What plugin/technique/etc do you embarassingly (over)use?

Postby [voodoopony] » 18 Oct 2011 23:44

For me: I used to blast the bass frequencies on the EQ, and everything was in an ocean of reverb. Also all my volume levels were on max, and if I still needed to raise another track's volume higher I'd just turn the gain up all the way.

Howboutchu?

Definitely limiter on the master track and reverb FX sends, I just bus pretty much everything to a single auxiliary reverb channel now.

Almost every one of my electronically produced songs has had synth1 somewhere in it.
...That aside, there really aren't too many that I overuse. Partially because I don't make that much music, and partially because I bounce around genres so much...

For my dubstep songs, I recycle the same main wobble patch all the time.

Throw Izotope Ozone on the master, everything will be fine.

Throw LoudMax AND Izotope Ozone on the master, everything will be fine.

Also, I spend a good 2 or 3 hours trying to make a synth, then I give up and watch youtube tutorial videos and rip off the results of that. For example:

>making Alex S remix, want a pretty awesome wub sounding thing à la Skrillex.

>2 hours in Reason trying to make something

>give up

>youtube search "Scary monsters and nice sprites tutorial"

Video that has a reason patch that I can take

NO
blood overdrive sucks. Use Hardcore, it's built into FL studio. Load it up and turn everything else off. I plugged in an acoustic guitar and piano, and it made it sound like an electric guitar. Of course, you can mess with the distortion. Just saying, blood overdrive sucks compared to Hardcore.

I overuse Nexus, and usually I EQ individual tracks along with EQ'ing the master track, then I put a limiter on it :P

I tend to always lean on this latino/whatever-beat whenever I try to make something upbeat.

So let me get this straight: if someone were to turn off the overdrive in your mix, could you say they've just all your blood?
