If you are doing it right you can use the Kontakt Guitars, I used them very often, leading some people (even musicians, who are guitarist themselves) to think that I can play guitar :P

Wait Peak, are you saying all of those guitars were done by the default Kontakt ones? I might need to give that library a go now.

Anyway, on topic, there are a couple of really sweet ones out there, 8Dio Progressive Metal was one I think Kyoga posted in the last thread like this and it sounds really awesome. Orange Tree Samples Evolution Guitar Strawberry has amazing soloing potential and sounds really cool, and I've heard good things about Shreddage X by Impact Soundworks. All of these run through Kontakt and i've put some examples below.

And This has a Shreddage X demo on it.

It's good to note that 8Dio's Guitars are all phrase based, which means rather than choosing the notes yourself, you choose the melody or phrase which they have recorded. So you won't be able to make your own I believe.

Shreddage on the other hand is amazing. For rhythm guitar. Not so good for solos and such, but rhythm is perfect.

Lots of people seem to be using the Electri6ity and Chris Hein Guitars, so you may like to give those a look.

Oh and forgot to mention, if you're after electric guitar, then try Acoustic Samples' Telematic.
http://acousticsamples.net/guitars/telematic
It is very RAM needy for a single vst, but you won't find anything else sounding more realistic, as it samples normal, slide and hammer on/pull off legato!
I have yet to use it properly, but when I play with it, it is very impressive.
(But you DO NEED an iLok, which is a downside)
