What is the name of a particular instrument?

Postby S.A.S.Falcon » 02 Sep 2012 18:39

Hey, I've listened to some orchestral songs by professional musicians and I'm trying to find the exact name of a particular woodwind instrument (so I could possibly find a good sample of one, as I've got a tune in my head which could work really well with it)

The instrument is played at the first part of this song

And the start of this one

If I had to hazard a guess, I would say it's an oboe of some sort? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's called the Duduk. It's not exactly an orchestral standard woodwind.
Symphobia comes with a few phrases of it, but not a mutisampled midi-controlled sound library. I'd be interested in knowing if there are specialty libraries for this too.

Awesome, thanks Makkon. I'll probably have a look around to see if there's a good library with that (I do have Symphobia, but I do have a particular rhythm in mind for it and I'm not sure if symphobia would be able to do it)
(and I'll be sure to link you it if I do find one)

The only one I can find that is exclusively Duduk is this one:

But there are many other ethnic sets with it in, so lots of ethnic instruments in 1 package!

Why didn't my post appear?

East West Ra has a lot of samples of the Duduk, and they're really good.
