Need Help Making a Sound

Been analyzing this song by Deadmau5. An oldie but a goodie.
I was wondering how I would replicate the "8bit-type" sound he uses, as well as the sound effect he uses at 43 seconds, midway through the song, and at the end.
I've tried replicating them myself in massive but I'm so freaking terrible at it, I feel like I'm just turning random knobs hoping the sound magically comes out.

Still one of my favorite songs by him, right up there with Strobe and Cthulhu Sleeps.
