What kind of kicks do people use in their music? Im looking for something more along the lines of stuff used in house music.

Try Vengeance Sample Packs. Clubsounds and Electro House.

I use these for the most part. Free, clean, made from scratch.

I used to use vengeance alot, but then I found some huge kick pack on sampleswap, and I just take stuff and layer it with an EQ.

Hmm, the VE House doesn't have too many usable kicks for regular house music, and electro house for that matter.

What I usually do is google for free sample packs, download anything I find and drag and drop anything that is good and trash the rest. Official releases like Vengeance have a lot of stuff, sure, but not only they are "pay to play", but I think I had not found a pleasing house/electro house kick sound from them yet.

What Magnitude Zero said basically. The mhak kicks are free and very usable, and the key of the kick is included with each one so you can have the kick in key with the rest of the song.

I mainly use whatever I find in Google and the NI Battery 3 library haha, with an 808 kick to give it some fullness. I do a ton of layering to get my drum sounds. =]

Markus Hakala is an amazing human being! Really recommend downloading his kick samples. They're infinitely better than Vengeance's samples and they're also royalty free (so you can use them commercially)! Which makes sense, because they're are almost commercial standard kicks :D
