First and foremost i would like to encourage you all that you don't have to be a musician to make an amazing song . For example Mel brooks who composed the Broadway hit springtime for Hitler. He wrote the entire Broadway show by humming notes into a recorder and asking a friend to transcribe it into music. Now on to finding inspiration, finding inspiration is tough but take a look at the world around you the moods and emotions you project in life are likely to come out into your music in other words write about what you know and feel and your sure to come up with something unique. experts say that music gets us in touch with our feelings so your goal as a songwriter is to help the audience identify themselves with the music you make... well your probably asking me how do well i use a 6 drop process
How to get started
1. Finding a message that i am passionate about-- If a subject is vital to you it might be vital to others as well. so if you don't care about the message your trying to convey in your music don't expect anyone else to care either.
2. Find a Simple Melody- So many songwriters get in and over their heads trying to be complex to win Friends and and influence but often the easiest melodies are the longest lasting.
3.Find a simple set of chord changes- make sure you have interesting transitions when changing chords so the song does not become stale.
4.find a place to write- you can really let the ideas flow when your just relaxing and letting your mind wander in a quiet place
5.humming out the tune- just improvise record yourself and hum out whatever your mind comes up with
6.-don't be afraid to mess up- those ideas you think are garbage can probably be redefined and messed around with to create more ideas remember the best music comes from the heart so trust your heart and you'll be fine
