But in all seriousness, that thread is a completely different topic. Granted I know there was a thread for this topic before as well, I just don't want to search through the forums on my iPhone for it.
I once dreamed a song. How I managed to remember everything when I woke up long enough to complete it is beyond me. Aside from that, my "studio" is in the middle of the house in a room that gets a lot of through traffic. My biggest inspiration is silence, which i haven't had in too long.
Try going for a walk...without your iPod. (or music player of choice, just shield yourself from any music and let your brain work. Less creepy than dead silence)
Constructive criticism is more than welcome. I embrace it.
I rarely make any sense when I post from my phone. And I post from my phone.
Tragedies, social/economic/political unrest, people I meet throughout life and leave some sort of noteworthy impression (usually when they act silly or especially irrational to me or others), and whenever a dark story of some sort zooms into my brain.
To put it simply, just observing people's behavior and experiencing tragedies and other emotionally powerful events tend to give me a lot of inspiration. For example, I wrote "Reaping Requiem" (Sorrowseed song) shortly after I heard that my mother was dying from an aneurysm.
I know, my inspiration methods are kind of a downer.
I just get cool riffs in my heads sometimes and go from there. I also get inspiration from other songs, but that's less the whole song and more of certain parts of my stuff. Dunno why, but I just haven't really been inspired by my emotions or art or such. It'll happen someday.

The inspiration I receive comes really randomly, some of the time. I'll be sitting, and then this amazing idea comes to me. Other factors are watching ponies. But watching ponies is mainly where I get the idea for audio clips and vocal stuff. I listen to a lot of Knife Party, so that gives me ideas on how to make my songs too.
I've been inspired by relations between people that touched my heart. I've been inspired by what I thought would be a good song name. I've been inspired by puns, art, and raw emotion.
But usually I get inspired when I go to take a piss. *shrug*
I try to not listen too much to music before I write my melodies to keep my head clear, so music isnt much of insperation to me when writing melodies, otherwise I try to think of strong feelings i had. Art is always a big insperation, I browse alot on deviantart.
