Ask Jackle App

Postby JackleApp » 25 Aug 2011 17:13

Holy shit what is this place
this isn't the "completed remix" part of the forum at all...

So I saw Grooves's'ss'ss's post in here and I was like

This seems like it could be mildly interesting to me, your good friend, Jackle App.

So hey!

ask me stuff, and I'll answer it to the best of my abilities!

FL studio related stuff, Melodyne, third option... etc.

Let's see what happens~

How do you get your "glitchy bullshit randomness" sounds? I'm assuming it's a VST, which means that I'm doomed if I want to do it since I use Reason (lawls, laughter, rofl, etc).

Why is your music so broken?

How does it feel to be famous?

I expect Art to accompany your answers!

"How do you get your "glitchy bullshit randomness" sounds?"

http://illformed.org/plugins/glitch/

At least I think that's what Jackle uses, but most of the effects should already be in Reason for you to use, just not handily automated like that.

@Jackle

You try any autotunes other then Melodyne? I'm curious if any other ones are worth checking out too

Why are you a griffin now? Griffins suck. Especially Gilda.

Do you expect/want to see more griffins in Season 2, or the return of Gilda?

How the hell did you learn how to use FL Studios?

Is my constant barrage of questions annoying? (I hope so.)

Oatmeal? Are you crazy?

Of all things to ask.....

What are you doing THIS saturday night, after toast-beard? I figure we can hit up some of the classy-Canterlot-Clubs and set some mares straight, if you know whadd-aye mean?

EDIT: UPON FINDING NEW INFORMATION, how about we go to Canterlot and make graffiti depicting Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy in less-than-appropriate poses? Eh? EH?

How do you usually start on a project/song/etc?

Not a lot of beginners are taught the foundation for producing/composing/remixing and whatnot, Just curious.

I don't think there's any "magic" to producing/composing/remixing/making patches. You shouldn't copy anyone else's way of music creation. I started less than two months ago, and i think it's just the matter of experience. Listening to lots (and I mean LOTS) of different kinds of music and focusing not always on lead, but the often background will help you gain experience on music, and so, producing and stuff.

I just sit down and start making music. I can't tell you much more, since there's not much more to it. man, I don't even know how to name a song after finishing it...
I start originals with a build-up (first only one part, then adding more, breakdown and drop, rest is history)
and remixes usually with a beat, then drop.

EDIT: whoopsie, i apparently wrote in a different topic than i though i was replying to ^_^

I didn't mean for my question to come off like that, I just wanted to know how he was going about starting. I have trouble with is getting off the ground so I just waned to know how others do it.

Also, I would like you to watch Everything is A Remix. Copying is how ya learn amirite?

Because Jackle App rarely replies... ITS A TRAP

edit @ swiss army cheese. At first I was like "well, in the beginning i was making fully my own music" but then i found out that my first drum loop was taken from looperman, the synth was taken from my keyboard, the percussion was from my daw's soundpool, and some more. I still modify and reverse enginering presets, but i slowly start making my own patches. I am listening to buckloads of different music. So yes, that's how you learn, however make sure to transform and combine, because copying happens in your head. Inspiration is good, copy-and-call it original not. (barbra streisand applies)
