Multi-monitor setups

So I'm running dual monitors, with a primary one centered, and a secondary one either off to the left or right. I don't necessarily want them side by side, since one is 1920x1080 and the other is 1280x1024. I have some small satellite speakers behind them, but my secondary monitor seems to block some of the sound on one of my speakers, whether I put it to my right or left, resulting in one speaker being clearer than the other. What should I do about this? I prefer speakers over my headphones. I might get rid of my secondary monitor though. I can live with a monitor at high res.

can't you put the speaker closer to you, so the monitor doesn't block out the speaker? like between the monitors?

The dual-monitor setup I used on my old desktop, which has since been repoed by my brother and is therefore no longer used for music, was not centered on either monitor - I placed the bigger, main one slightly to the left, and vice-versa to the other, smaller one. It ended up putting a monitor in front of both of my speakers, but neither one was any clearer than the other, because both were behind something. All I really needed to do was turn it up a tad (and turn down the subwoofer to compensate )

What you should try is sliding you monitor so that there is an opening in between the two and pull your speakers forward so that they are not bouncing sound off of the back of the monitor. Unless your cable dosent reach that far.

I got a dual monitor setup with my laptop, both are side by side and I have gotten used to the size diffrence between them. I have my monitors (speakers) on either side of the screens about a meter apart. If you can move the speaker to sit right between the monitors and move the other one up to balance the sound it would work fine. Are the cables not long enough to do this?

I would to have my monitors right next to each other, but I guess my usage of a secondary monitor doesn't necessarily call for them needing to be side-by-side (I only watch things like chats and other things over there. Nothing really needs to have them close.). I suppose I could just move it more to the left, since there's no more room on the right.

I remember reading somewhere about how the speakers should be approximately in a perfect/regular/equilateral triangle with the listener, and I don't want to stray too far from that.



If I ever get a new desk and a new "secondary" monitor, I guess I could just place my speakers farther out to the left/right.

Yah, that principle will work much better when there's not something blocking the sound from the speaker.
