Electric Guitar MIDI Device

Hey,
Does anybody know if there is a MIDI device I can plug into my guitar so I can record a MIDI of it into Ableton Live

There are MIDI pickups, that I know. And then you need a box to process those signals into MIDI for the computer. But I have no links. It will probably be tedious though and you will have to get an extra MIDI guitar because you can't turn analog signals into MIDI without transposing the notes yourself. So yeah, you can't do it dually like you can with keyboards (and the reason you can do that is because they often feature that in the keyboard, so it was designed for both analog and midi output depending on your need.)

Would you recommend recording MIDI on guitar or straight recording...

MIDI does have a few positive sides, mainly that you can play instruments that are not guitar with the guitar and as such you can make wicked cool noises. But I would actually recommend going for analogue recording of the guitar because it gives you a better feel of how to record, mix instruments and so on. For midi input I'd rather say invest in a keyboard. They ofter offer more choices for modulation of the sound in DAW than a strangely built guitar as well!

You still have a massive influx of FX at your hand, so you can modulate a guitar to make a very wide array of sounds anyway.

He's saying that melodies may be something that is more difficult than chords.

I own Mixcraft Pro studio 5, which sucks at everything except for recording instruments. It's great at that. So simple. :D

but really, I just want my DAW to accept the mods that I write a little bit more... fluidly.
It often lags out or fights me on my oscillators...
for example, on the last song I wrote "If equestria burns" had 112 oscillators firing at about 3:00 in.

(if you want to... if that would be alright...)

Hmmm you used to be able to get Ableton Live lite for free if you used SoundCloud...
