Virtual MIDI Input

Postby MixolydianPony » 28 Apr 2012 14:24

Is there any method for virtual MIDI input to software? I'm not talking about a MIDI editing grid like in most DAWS where you click around to place notes, I mean like a way to have your computer's keyboard function as a MIDI controller, as opposed to an external one.

Most daws don't support that sort of thing natively (the only things I've seen do that being Psycle (outdated competitor to Modplug) and Famitracker) so I'd look into an external program.

Quick search brings this up:

Though I'd still suggest you get an external midi keyboard anyways, something like this still doesn't register velocity nor does it give you a natural feeling median for pitch bending, sustain pedals, etc.
