Classy precussion tips?

Postby Fimbulin » 27 Mar 2012 04:00

I'm finally getting my laptop back from repairs, and my friend has got FL for me, so I can start back into what I never really started yet. :P

I'm going to make some old classical showcase style music, but I may want to make some with a hard percussion section. I like what Dr.Dissonance does with his steampunky stuff, and Makkon with his dregscore, but I'm wanting to go for a finesse feel. I'm kindof clueless on how to get a modern hard percussion sound into classy music and keep a professional feel in it. Any tips would be helpful! Thanks!

Hmmmm...

I don't know of any samples, but perhaps tuned percussion might be what you're looking for...

That and timpani. It can be quite subtle when it needs to :)

Kettle drums, timpani, and pitched precussion. I'll have to try that out. Thanks!

Wait, aren't kettle drums and timpani the same thing?

I think it depends on how one uses them.
