My Ableton Broke (Crashes on Open)

Postby Two-Twelve » 20 Mar 2012 16:58

Alright, so I got Melodyne, installed it, all was well. Standalone application runs fine, and the VST works in FL Studio. BUT, when I tried to open Ableton I get this:

So I uninstalled Melodyne, but nothing changed. Ableton still crashes and displays the same error messages. Sooo... I uninstalled and reinstalled Ableton, restarted my PC, and guess what...Ableton crashes and the error messages pop up. What the hell man? Any of you guys have any idea what's going on here?

I can't say I have an answer for you but first did you pirate Ableton or Melodyne?

Yes, so I know I can't be to picky about things like this. But I'm just wondering why it would still be giving me this message after I have removed Melodyne from my PC and reinstalled Ableton.

Did you check the plugin folder?
Even if you uninstall melodyne it may still leave that .dll in plugin/ReWire whatever folder. (You just can't trust pirates... :/) If it's not inside ableton you have few options:
-check if it's in a common plugin folder, if you have one (usually in C:/Program files or program files x86)
-C:/users/[your profile name]/Documents/[Filename that points to ableton]
-C:/users/[your profile name]/AppData/Roaming/[Filename that points to ableton]
Note: AppData is a hidden folder!

Had something similar happen to me, it happened when I was choosing my first real DAW and now I'm stuck on FL Studio instead of Ableton because I raged at it when it broke.

Change the file name of whatever melodyne is installed in, for instance, with melodyne, it'd be in C/Program Files/Celemony (I think?) Just change the file name from like, 'Celemony' to, say, 'Celemony 123'

Forces the application to be unable to find it, allowing you to manually remap where it opens the plugin from. I had to do it with my VST folder, and it works fine now that I've properly mapped it out.
10/15/2014 - I finally return to ponies? Maybe.

Actually it was more like 10/12/2015

My current SoundCloud, pony & non-pony things found here.

I have 4 EP's under this alias!

Somepony talk to me, I are the lonelies. :c
