Can we just like, stop here and prevent this going into a Mac vs. Pc thread? We all know its a pointless debate. It's all about the user, personal preference. It is true some things might perform better on certain systems. It is true some things are cheaper than others. Both platforms have their good and bad sides.

In the end, most people won't really care what you used, as long as the stuff you do on it is good. Whether that is music, arts, whatever. What matters is, you need to feel confident with whatever you are using - that is whats important in creative work, in my opinion. Whether that be a Mac or Pc - up to you. Same thing applies to DAW's, software plugs, synths and god knows what else. My 2 cents. //rolls down the stairs

i7 intel dual core

I'm pretty sure you mean quad-core, which would make everything make sense.

Also, my processor with load runs at 140+ degrees Fahrenheit, slightly overclocked. It's probably the processor that's generating all the heat, and it's not that abnormal. Some people run at almost 170 degrees on their processors when they push their overclocking, so it's not that abnormal.

Now, since you really don't like it, I'd say you should go with what everyone's saying and just return it.

I prefer PCs much more than Macs, considering that the price/performance ratio isn't so exorbitant.
  • A Mac Pro with 3.2Ghz Xeon (non-OC-able), with 16 GB RAM at DDR3-1333, a HD 5870, a 512 GB SSD, and a 1 TB HD is $4074.
  • An iMac with 3.4Ghz i7 (non-OC-able), with 16 GB RAM at DDR3-1333, a 6970M 2GB, a 256 GB SSD, and a 1 TB HD is $3199. I really don't see why a Mac Pro would cost more for inferior performance, unless you want a server or something =/
  • A PC with a 3.4Ghz i5-3570k (can OC to at least 4Ghz), with 16 GB RAM at DDR3-1600, a GTX 660 Ti 2GB, two 240 GB SSD, and a 2 TB HD is $1896 right now (though it was $2000+ last month). It's also easy to upgrade, you can include Hackintosh, etc etc. You can also have multiple monitors and whatnot if you wanted.

Can we move this... "debating" to another thread now, instead of derailing this help thread? viewtopic.php?f=21&t=4500
