Any good Free vocal or FX sample packs?

Postby KillerAmp » 22 Sep 2012 23:58

im just looking for some kind of vocal or FX sample packs,
For FX i would preferably like a variety of Ambience/filler sounds, but really anything is good :D
voices would really be anything high quality, i want a viraity of things, i mean honestly anything from rasta to pop to rock would be awesome.
TBH i just want to beef up my sample collection, so any samples would be awesome!
thanks guys

I don't have any free sample packs for you but in the last few months I have started buying sample packs and I must say they are far better than any of the free ones I have used in the past. Beatport sells them for ~ $15-40 depending on size, content, and brand name. Its not that much money and in my opinion its a very worthwhile investment, they do have a nice section for FX samples and you likely may find some vocals samples as well. You will find free samples that are good but the best are sold not given away.

I wish someone told me the paid stuff was better a long time ago, now that I know I fell like I should share that knowledge.

Of course its better, silly the4thImpulsesmilingfluttershycreepyavatar you :P
But you got a point. I actually forgot Beatport has a lot of nice DJ tools and its pretty cheap. Another point to Beatport. Sorry DJDownload, that 'How to DJ' segment was pretty good but still looks like Beatport is kicking your posteriors :P

Well its hard to recommend a sample pack without knowing what you are 'truly' looking for in the pack, so heres some questions!

What genres do you write most often?
What genres sample packs do you currently have?
How do you feel about using loops and sampling from those?
Do you want to conform to the 'popular' sound or rather make your own (be unique)?

Beatport is very user friendly and browsing for sample packs is very easy. They are listed by genre 'style' (ie. electro house, dubstep, FX, orchestral..) and each one has a top ten list (most bought) as well as new releases and featured packs. You can hear a sample of what they offer most often being clips of possible songs or just the plain sounds by themselves.

Genres - Moombahton, Dubstep, House
Sample Packs currently owned - Vengence Essential Clubsounds 2 and 3, Vengence Essential Dubstep 1, Audio Tent Ultimate Noise FX
Feels about loops - ill eq them or take bits and pieces and mess with them so they dont really sound like loops, but thats mostly for hats and stuff. but IMO its always nice to have loops
Sound - A little of both, id like to keep some roots in the popular sound, but love to add my spin to the genres.

I got Audio Tent Noise FX from Beatport recently and i love it, i wish there were a lot more sound fx things on beatport, rather than all the massive presets lol.
