Best way to do a Charity Album

Postby senntenial » 31 Aug 2012 12:34

Heya guys, I'm hosting the Soft Spectrum charity album - It's going to be like Balloon Party in the sense that it is free to download, but can also accept donations. I plan to host the songs on bandcamp. My question is, how do I get the money to the Charity? My guess was to just use my paypal to take the money from Bandcamp, and then give it to the Charity, but there has to be a better way than that without using myself as a middleman, is there?

I wouldn't advertise it as a charity album to begin with. I would simply say, "This album is free for all to download, however if any choose to donate, any proceeds will be sent to (insert charity name) to help raise money for (insert what charity's for)."

If you advertise it as a charity album to begin with, with the primary focus being the charity, then you've gotta setup some complicated logistics with the charity itself, because some of the people who donate are going to expect certain things, such as an actual receipt that can be used for tax deductions.

Contact the Brony charity fund...Can't remember the name (help here?) It'll help you with all the technicalitys, and reduce the taxes. I think. Need to read up aswell.
Constructive criticism is more than welcome. I embrace it.

I totally didn't realize it was a charity album. Well, time to make a piece, myself and not just collab....

Doesn't broniesforgood serve as a middleman? You probably want to contact them and sort things out.

Bronies for Good serves as the middle man, and InC serves as the middle man between us and Bronies for Good.

Send him a PM, and he'll likely be able to answer all your questions.
