IPad Orchestral Music Composition Software

Postby MilesTiden » 20 Aug 2012 00:04

A little while back, my computer sort of up and exploded on me. Since then, I have been using my iPad for just about everything, including music. While it has been serving me well enough, I am looking for something on the iPad that I could use for more high quality orchestral music. I need something that can use samples like Vienna and all that, and can do all the mixing and mastering stuff, as well as the MIDI stuff in some amount. My entry for RWV is orchestral, and the deadline is coming up soon, so I would like to be able to obtain it relatively quickly. Does anyone have experience with composing music with the iPad?

I don't think there is a way you can do it, honestly. I just don't think an iPad has the computational power to handle massive samples and mixing and stuff.

I hate to break it to you, but you're kinda stuck.

I don't think there are any good composition software on ipad rather than garageband

there's fl studio mobile though, it's pretty decent but I hate how you can only convert mobile files into the pc file, it's not so useful, plus, no custom sounds

You could try Notion for iPad:
http://www.notionmusic.com/products/notionipad.html

It has its own samples! But there's no way you'll get anything that will play samples such as your example; the Vienna Instruments. IPads can't handle that massive use of RAM!!!

There's loads of ways to do it. Not just garageband. Just look in the Music Section, yes there are ways to compose on it in various styles, and definitely look up Notion, it's great for orchestral composition.

Notion works really well, so thank you for that! But... so far, I have not seen any way to export the audio from notion, and get it into mp3 format. I'm composing my entry for the remix war on there, so that may be a huge problem...

Send me the notion file, I have the desktop version of Notion and I should be able to just open it and render it out for ya. My Skype is lavenderharmony, add me when you've got it ready.
