Flux Pavilion recently did a Q&A on Reddit about production

Google Docs version: https://docs.google.com/document/d/19GQ ... Gse3I/edit

Lots of interesting tips in there. I think my favorite quote is, "...something doesnt sound loud or powerful enough, dont compress it and limit it and EQ it . . . . just turn it up."

Anyway, hope some folk get use out of that. Wasn't really sure which board to post this on, so hopefully it fits here.

If anyone can figure out what genre this is, please tell me, cause I have no clue. :D

Dear Flux Pavillion

I didn't learn anything.

Your faithful student,
Flutter Rex

But seriously, for people starting to make some noise - it's great AMA. Flux is a smart guy and he's got huge production sense. He's talking about overall structure of producing sounds, giving very inspiring advices.
But still: layering the drums, searching for best fitting samples, focus on small steps, making specific parts of the song better (not overall), trusting your ears, trying no to force experiments, playing freely with subs, fitting them differently in every mix, absolutely not trusting "EQ standards"... For someone like me, who's making sounds for a very long time - it's nothing new (unfortunately!).
But in the other hand, I found him very similiar to me in many, many ways. That's... nice. Maybe I'll be a famous pro too someday? I wish. :3

Oh my goodness, I sound like a jerk, don't I? x(

Not at all! You're just expressing your reaction to the thread, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Anyone feel like converting this to a proper Q/A doc? I hate reddit, it doesn't make sense, same with chans...

Sure! Gimme a little bit.

(And yeah, Reddit's kind of a bitch to try and read when you aren't used to the layout.)

Alright, here's the AMA in a somewhat more readable format. It's not terribly pretty, but you don't have to deal with Reddit's layout.

Flux Pavillion wrote:... there are loads of techniques that i use and its only a few years later i learnt they had a name, i just thought of an LFO as 'that wobbly button' until I got myself in a few awkward conversations with other producers.
Fillies and gentlecolts, you heard it here first: to make dubstep, you just push "that wobbly button".

Hmmm. Not terribly informative, but still interesting all the same.

I think feedback for tracks on this site is now obsolete. When people ask for advice on how to improve their music, we just need a bot that replies with "PUSH THE WOBBLY BUTTON" and those GIFs.
