Chain: You're doing it wrong. Use EQ, make space for the kick, if it's too quiet, lower everything around it, mix to -6dB, bring it up in the master once you're done mixing.

De-esser? Never thought people used Maximus for that before.

Anyways, now that you know, Lavender, you know the risks, and you know what alternatives you can use to Maximus. It may sound tempting to use one plugin for all of your basic mixing needs, but trust me, don't even think about using it.

On a serious note though, I find Maximus too clunky to use as anything apart from an Expander (and even then it takes a lot of tweaking) and a Noise Gate (I don't think there are any noise gates that come packaged with FL).

Lol. I don't have FL, and I've never tried to make a Tombsnare. I think I'm safe as long as I don't use dBlue Glitch on every song. That's my bad habit.
