Vocal Effect Question blah

Postby Raddons » 22 Jun 2012 20:33

My question is fairly simple. I was listening to the isolated vocal track to "Beyond Her Garden" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2z5eizH0u1I if you don't know) and I wanted to know how he got that effect on his vocals. I love it.

In case you haven't noticed I'm terrible with picking out effects and what not.

I may or may not need to know this for my next song :/

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Glaze typically uses Bitspeak on his vocals.

Yeah, that's what I heard too. I've also heard he uses Melodyne a little bit as well.

Going off what he's said before when someone said that exact same thing (the whole bitspeak thing):

He's only used bitspeak on one track

Really it's funny since that's what everyone assumes he uses for EVERYTHING.

I'm pretty sure what he does is he just melodynes his voice so far that the pitch correction "flattens" it persay, and then he just stacks the same vocal line melodyned to the harmony of the main line.

For the verses in beyond her garden I duplicated my voice 3 times in melodyne, panned 1 hard left with the formant slightly raised, 1 hard right left natural, then the last is centered but thrown up an octave in melodyne.

For the chorus the natural one was left centered and the 2 duplicates were panned left and right, one with a higher harmony and the other with a lower harmony.
