Voice Mixing (I have no idea)

Postby hottoast16 » 20 May 2012 22:14

So I have this voice of Luna saying BE STILL and I want to cut it up and add a staccato to the beginning of it, a legato to the end of that, and change the pitch but I don't know how to do that (I am just getting started).
Basically, I want to mix voices in a way similar to that of someone like rabiesx86 or pinkiepieswear.
If someone could explain to me how that works or link me to a video or thread where I can learn to do that I would greatly appreciate.

Should probably tell us what program you're using as well, silly Toast.

If you're using FLS, I know a few ways you could do it. It's pretty simple, actually :D

Right now I'm using Ableton and FlStudio. I haven't decided which one I'm going to stick with but so far they are both good programs to me.

Cool. I have Ableton too!

Anyways, you might want to try cutting out awkward breathing spaces from your singing during mixing, but don't cut it too much or it will sound bad. You may also want to use a de-'s'er to remove any 's' sounds that are ugly. Don't use that or anything else too much though. A solid recording works best.

For FL Studio, you can use Edison in the mixer to cut down samples to manageable lengths, and you end up with multiple cuts from one sample.

You can also drag and drop mp3 files from a folder into the playlist directly and use the slicing tool to cut it up right in the playlist.

For changing the pitch, Newtone is an effects panel that's a great auto-tuning tool. You can also try Pitcher, which is another effects panel that is like a severely dumbed-down Newtone. You don't get as good of results with it, but it's much easier to use.
