Help with Kontakt 5

Postby Toucan » 13 May 2012 05:04

I just got the Kontakt 5 plug-in for some orchestra sounds. But eh, it didn't have any libaries, is there any libaries that you can recommend? Or do you have to make your own sounds? I can't figure this plug-in out. And i haven't found any useful tutorials and reviews at YT =P

What do you mean with "Kontakt 5 Plug-in" ? Kontakt is a sampler, he needs libraries to work with.
Buyable libraries are available on the Native-Instrument homepage.

there is a small and free library you can get from NI at their site.

http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/ ... ?page=2491

play with that first and then look into getting more libraries to effectively use it.

Well they're not cheap but....

http://www.soundiron.com/instruments/pi ... nal-piano/
http://www.vir2.com/instruments/electri6ity
http://www.soundsonline.com/Symphonic-Orchestra (pretty much anything from eastwest)

I don't have the cash to pick them up myself but I've heard them in action and they are quite convincing.

Wait wait wait wait.... i think i got it now. You can import sounds in Kontakt and edit them... like the pitch, speed etc? Correct me if i'm wrong.

Yes, Kontakt is a sampler not just a Rompler
You can import and make your own sounds all you'd like if you can navigate the often-times confusing at first glance sound editor that it comes with.

You can make and package your own libraries just like the companies that make them to begin with, you can even sell them too.

Well as a plugin yeah it'd be kinda silly to not use it in your DAW
I'd use the standalone mode just for working on your own libraries or experimenting with things when you're not actually composing things

Note that EW don't sell anything in Kontakt mode anymore...everything from them directly is now powered by PLAY, instead of Kontakt!
You'll probably want ProjectSAM or Cinesamples for your orchestral Kontakt needs!

If you fl studio just so you know the routing is a little more difficult than a normal vst. If something doesn't play you 'll need to edit your channels. there's youtube's out there for help.
