Remix War VII: When Genres Collide

Re: Remix War VII: When Genres Collide

Man I was excited for this but things didn't all pan out right for me. It took me a while to figure out just what song I wanted to remix, longer to get around to asking for stems. I never did get a reply back and too shy to ask again.
At least I made something for the intermission but that's about it.

If you guys missed the deadline, PM me a link to your track within the next 24 hours or so. I'm going to be downloading all the songs and making sure they're all tagged correctly before I hand them off to Celestia Radio. The sync listen will start next weekend on Saturday. The number of entries for this war was smaller than last year, so we can probably listen to all the songs within 2 days (Saturday and Sunday). I'll make a new topic about the sync listen.

yes and no, as SiA said, those who are late can still submit for a day after the deadline, but other than that, it's anticipation time.

That's a pretty big drop. Lotta people leaving or that no longer come to MLR enough to even hear about the event (coupled with a return to school and a shorter timeframe).

At least it won't be a multiday simulcast but there's a multitude of big names that don't aknowledge these events or take part in these which is a bit sad.

I noticed this, and it's a damn shame.
I think half the problem lies in the fact that the MLP music scene as a whole is dwindling. Many big names have stepped off the Brony bus - Silva, Alex, and most recently, H8_Seed a few days ago. Glaze seems to be focusing of his Glaze stuff rather than WoodenToaster, which is totally fine, but unfortunately people pay much less attention to it. Seriously, go compare his views on poniponi to not poniponi. And that's only a to name a few; I haven't seen alot of ArtAttack, Assertive only seems to release once a blue moon, and the list goes on.

I'm not sure really how to remedy the fact that the scene is in a bit of a bind, but for sure it needs a kick in the flank somehow ..

Well the old names have been replaced with a new breed of up and comers and those are who EQD featurers. Radiarc, Donglekumquat, Ponyphonic, AmongTheHerd, Nicolas Dominique, TheDashDub, JayB, PonyFirestone, Carbon Maestro, Sprocket Doggingsworth, Evening Star, Flaedr, VocalScorePony, and TheLTrain. I can't say that many of those guys took part in RW or currently on MLR either. So even if the names are changing on who the current stars are the status quo isn't. There's a serious disconnect from MLR/RW to the popular artists and the general brony community.

MLR needs to be relevent and be a place where brony musicians converge REGARDLESS of status. When you look at who started this forum they were all our idols. All i see now is its a place to leave (graduate) once you get good (or never be a part of in the first place because you didn't need the help). Not happy that's the case....

Actually, it's 54 total entries. The event will be probably barely over 4 hours.

But that's fine. This event isn't a Balloon Party. It's for musicians who are just learning the craft and wish to get to know one another. My first remix ever was an entry in Remix War I and it sucked. But it didn't matter, because I learned a lot since then, many of the things I've learned was from people who I met during the remix wars.

If less musicians are interested in the event than before, that's fine too. The scene went from no saturation 2 years ago to over saturation real quick. I think it's finding a middle ground now.

Oh wow. I just counted how many guys were listed. Didn't know it was half that. :O

Good point on the saturation thing. Bound to happen and probably a good thing for the long run.
