Blind wrote:Welp, it's official. After 13-14 hours of work, which is easily twice the time I usually spend on a song, I'm so sick of my remix that I can no longer work on it. I guess that means I'm done! I was planning on working on it until the last few days, but at this point I feel like anything I add/change will only make it worse and frustrate the shit out of me. It's as good as it'll ever be.

I'm knowing that feel bro...

Ok, I guess I'm finished....
Been listening to my remix countless times trying to pick out the smallest possible things I want changed.... and haven't been able to find anything for quite some time. So yeah, I'll send mine in today, most likely.

The problem with this is that often it takes a couple weeks break to hear those things, or someone else to point them out to you. If only there was more time x.x

Would a dance remix of a trance song be allowed? Or are the genres too similar?

It's not so much of a genre-swap as a style-swap. As long as the two don't sound like the same song, you're fine.

What if... you can't tell what genre it is... and others can't tell what genre it is... and then you're just sitting there finding out what genre it is...

DO WE EVEN NEED TO KNOW??? .-.

People place waaay too much importance on genres imo. I have no idea what genre my remix is, nor what genre the original is. All I really know is the two are about as different as you can get.

Indeed. I'm doing a rock cover of an acoustic song, so that's different enough.

Good, now I don't have to do a house style remix of Rainbow Factory (which would be my second RF remix anyway, after an industrial one). Though I am still debating whether to industrialize Makkon's Winterglade.

Me in a nutshell... I was just wondering if the mods cared about the genres or not :\\

I have a question about the "Name" field on the submission form. I recently changed my name and will be releasing the remix under the new name. Should I enter that one, or the one I use here, which also happens to be the one on the list of participants?

PM him here, or on Youtube, or through Skype I would guess.

Any genre is fine, even if you don't even know what that genre is. Maybe you just made the next awesome genre!

in my opinion, a relevant info snippet: EqBeats' youtube uploader now uploads unlisted videos IF you click the button BEFORE publishing your track, and public IF you click the button AFTER you published it.

basically this means that those who upped youtube vids from EqB can safely do the same with their RW5 entries.
