I don't know what a vs on a remix means. But you can't remix another remix. Mashups are also not part of the competition.

But I also don't feel like I can improve it much, it feels finished... just not great

You can do either, or both.
As long as you submit the right way, and don't break the rules too bad, you shouldn't be rejected.

And look at that little [edit] button on your post, so you can avoid double posting.

yep the way it's worked in previous remix wars is to have them unlisted until the streaming event (which is the 21st) and then after that you can make them public
