Hey guys,
I've reached a point in my project where I realize that I just can't do it all by myself, and that I need some serious help with music.
What I'm doing is a pony parody of a radio show called This American Life. If you’re unfamiliar with the show, it’s compilation of human interest//slice of life stories that are intended to invoke emotion, be it joy, sorrow, nostalgia, or what have you. What really makes the show great (among a plethora of other things) is its use of music and spacing between phrases in the story that give the listener time to pause and reflect on the previous statement. I’d highly recommend the show if you’ve never heard it before. You can listen to any of their old episodes at http://www.thisamericanlife.org
I’ve had the spoken tracks and effects for the first episode of my show recorded and mixed since July. The only thing holding me back is that I’ve been missing the music that will help me sell the emotions in the story. I had though about trying to do lounge or jazz remixes of the background music, trying to get a similar feel to what they have in TAL.
I managed to get http://dl.dropbox.com/u/62987783/MusicBed2.mp3 out of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXNl2CXXWIA by playing with my little sister's practice keyboard.
I tried making a second one, but it just came out sounding like the Good Eats theme song.
Any help anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated. I've halfheartedly worked on a bunch of different audio projects over the years, but this is the one that I really don't want to see die. Send me a PM or an email to [email protected] if this sounds like something you could have fun with.
Thanks so much!
