OK, remember that studio desk I said I've been building? Well it's nearly done now. What I've done is I've replaced it with what I had, but I still havnt put on the shelving. Because of this' my speakers are low and wires are literally EVERYWHERE. Anyways, here's a look at it.

A bit clearer:

Edit: oh, also, I know about the whole corner traps the bass thing. I'm going to adjust the desk so it's more in the middle of the wall once I have the shelving on. In the meantime though, DUAL MONITORS WOOHOO!

Daum, looks like som_e pretty high end cableage... I dont think I own a single cable like that!

Jk, I probably do. But you use it for chip tunes right? So high end component cables would make sense...
What I meant to say is: That looks very good, Id be very proud if I made an NES look that good, and so should you.

Nothing, they're all hand drawn. A few of them are my original drawings too.

So are they commissions then? Or do you have talented friends who draw for free?

Ok guys, I need some help. Right now my new desk is kind of cluttered and awkward. I need some advice on placement. Currently, I have my main monitor sitting behind my small midi controller, sitting behind my keyboard & mouse. To the left of that is my mixing board. On the right of my monitor is my laptop, which is behind my graphics tablet. My laptop screen is a lot smaller than the monitor, but has much clearer color and resolution. On the far right is my microphone and against the wall is my keyboard. (Look at previous post for reference)

ANYWAY, this all seems fine in theory, but in reality it's just awkward. I'm right handed so whenever I need to use the mouse when I'm doing...art...stuff, I'm forces to reach over or use my left hand. I need the connections to all reach though. If I swap the laptop and the monitor workstations that MIGHT work, but then the mixing board will be out of reach when I need it. I'd also be right next to the wall when I make music.

Has anyone had this kind of issue before? I'm frustrated as hell...

Wellll
Seeing as you made the desk, you could make a shelf under it that holds your drawing pad and slides out when you need it. I can't think of a way to re-arrange everything that would work.

As I see it you have one more option than what stakeout sugested, and that is be a man and get used to it. You might just have to work with it a day or two, but then it'll be all natural.
I first didnt think I could have a laptop with a numeric keyboard caus it would be to of center. Now I both have a laptop with a numeric keyboard and I have it to the left of the screen I'm useing. It started out a bit akward, but now I'm all ok with it.

I dont think you need to invest in a mixer if you just want to add the two signals together (atleast if both signals are from the same source, it messes it up if their different... voltage... current... impedance or something, idk). I think you just need a splitter, or two of them, one for each channel.

Make another part to add onto your desk, a little sliding out table thing for your keyboard and mouse, or your midi keyboard, if you want.

WELP, looks like i'll have to build a drawer slide underneath the desk. Ahh well :)

Hey, TheBronyChip, get a mixing board but be sure it's a good quality one. My experience with mixing boards is that they give a lot of static when you turn the gain up on them. The better the quality the less they'll do that. It has something to do with all the signals going to the master output, and even if you mute all the unused tracks the issue still exists. Trust meh :3

Another thing you could do is you could just record separate audio tracks and then mix them together in a DAW, but I guess that would'nt work for playing live, huh...

I did that once. I hated it, my speakers made them rattle against what they hung from. Probably my fault though.

I'm going to be making a hutch for my desk to set both sets of monitors on (Both my dual screens and speakers). It will have my Casio under it. Any tips on how to make/brace/etc?

No clue. I don't use dual screens. Too much work put into setting it up and all that. Keep asking, someone will help you with that.

I prefer putting shelves right on the wall. (If your wall can support it, shouldn't be a problem on most walls though)
It's really easy, just some measuring, a few screws, making sure its all level and then your done. Might take you an hour the first time an hour to begin with, but compared to building a hutch it's probably both easier and faster.
