What was the very first album you bought?

Postby SkruffyPony » 02 Nov 2011 21:46

Just something I started thinking about during many a conversation with Mr Voodiddilusdoous.

What was your first album you bought as a kid? I remember music used to come in this sort of..."CD" form? Can anyone else remember that?

Anyway, what was it?! Also, post your favorite song you remember loving from the album!

The Offspring - Conspiracy Of One

Song I loved:

Yeah! Nothing beats 10 year old kids rocking out!

After I heard this song, I wrote a (terrible) rip off of it and played it with a few of my friends at the school talent show. I wrote some pretty...interesting lyrics. Basically, it was about a woman who went to theme parks and acted in a promiscuous way.

I was asked to leave the show.

System of a Down's debut "System of a Down". God, I couldn't tell you my favourite song from this album... they all go perfectly together. I'll just pluck a track at random from it: P.L.U.C.K.

The first album ..... hmmmmm ..... i think it was Lamb

the albums name is "What Sound"

as for my favorite song it would be ... What Sound .. I just love the way it sounded .... sweet soft music with singing that gave me the chills at the time ..... and then out of nowhere a strange drum beat ...... this was also what got me in to electronic music

Yeah you got that right. I think this album was probably the third or forth I bought myself. It was so fun to listen to. The remix album had a few good tracks on it, too. I haven't really paid LP much attention since Meteora. I only really enjoyed Breaking The Habit from that one. I was gifted Minutes To Midnight, but didn't really enjoy it. I found myself growing tired of each track very quickly. Not heard any of the new stuff, either.

This is weird. I bought this album like a week after buying Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory. I used to listen to Chocolate Starfish while playing Carmageddon back in the day. They now remind me of each other. Heheh.

Also, if someone posts Toxicity by System of a Down next, I'm gonna faint.

Well I got Hybrid Theory only after a few months from getting the Limp Bizkit album. And I found System of a Down pretty late, about 2 years after those two albums, but I had Toxicity :D

You can proceed fainting now...

Then about the same time as Toxicity came Offspring - Splinter and after that about a year later I got Slipknot - Vol3 (the Subliminal Verses). And then I had learned how to sail the internet seas and pirate what I want.

First album I actually bought: Fall Out Boy - From Underneath the Cork Tree (Still love it today!)
It was when Fall Out Boy was Pop punk-ish I think.

I love this song! First song to ever use the chord progression I try to always use! It's in the chorus and starts when he sings "at least everyone is trying"

The earliest album I remember getting was In Search of Sunrise 5 from Tiesto and Reflections [I think?] from Paul Van Dyk. Those were the good 'ole days.

HOT DAMN.

My first album was actually a Playsation Game! Remember how those doubled as music cd's?

My favorite game on Playstation was also my first album, it was a PSX port of the old DOS game Hexen by Id Software, I used to play that thing for hours. It scared the shit out of little four year old me. I loved the music too, that game has some fond and scary memories. OST composed by Keven Schilder.

Here's the song you hear the most in that game.

The best part however:

I remember it being "end of an era" which is a live album from nightwish, which is my favorite band.
it also has a live version of my favorite song which is planet hell.

and they also did an amazing cover of high hopes by pink floyd, and because of that song I am a pink floyd fan as well
