Electric guitar VSTi's

Postby Pinkie Cake » 28 Oct 2011 04:17

Can someone recommend some good VSTis or soundfonts for electric guitars.
I've tried Slayer2 but I wasn't very happy with it.

There aren't many great ones to be honest.

Ministry of Rock is passable, but if need be, you're better off asking a guitarist to do the parts *cough ismbof, tarby, cyril or me*

Ministry of Rock 2 is pretty good, but yeah, that costs money and nothing beats having it played by an actual person!

THERE IS A SEQUEL?!?!?!?!?

*Frantic googling*

EDIT: I'm unimpressed with the distorted guitars, they haven't really progressed from MoR 1 at all. They still feel really clunky.

On the other hand, some of the cleans here sound really pretty. Not for the amount of money i'd have to pay, but very cool.

Yeah, I saw that there is a second one, but the sad part is that I don't have such money and there are no torrents of it anywhere.

Well asking for someone at this point would be a little bit ridiculous since I don't have a full vision yet, I just want to play around, add some interesting variety to my music.

Btw: this is what I managed to do with slayer2 and guitar rig 4.

That slayer sample hurts my ears... The riff isn't bad, but after finally weaning myself from midi guitar, going back is painful.

For the future, if you ever need guitar stuff I can offer my assistance. I'm alright, and what I can't do I can generally put in practice to learn. If you write it either as midi or using Guitar Pro I could sort it out.

Slayer needs to die, it is the most horrendous sounding guitar plugin I've ever heard

Aside from recording your own guitar, if you want better distorted samples try getting an amp simulator and running some sort of clean guitar-ish sample through that to distort it yourself, it definitely helps improve midi guitar a little.
