I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble, man. Could be your current configuration with ASIO4ALL, which might be worth re-installing.
If not, I'd recommend getting a different install of Ableton, or trying Cubase (which I use).

I have the exact same settings as you, Clap, Realtek HD and everything, and it works perfectly for me. So I guess, um...don't use ASIO. :D

in my opinion, ASIO has a bit fuller and better sound than realtek MME/ DX, not sure how the hell tho'

Hey, been reading this forum for ages but haven't joined because I'm yet to produce anything but I thought I would join now just so I can help someone.

I had the same problem with asio. Fire up the services manager (just services somewhere in the start menu if you are running win 7), find Windows Audio and stop that service, then fire up Ableton. Hopefully it will work then. If not, start the service again as you'll need it for other things.

EDIT: I'm using realtek hd stuff as well... May be the cause of the problem.

I am Very much an Ableton Dragon here. If you ask Me the set up mistake is simple. on the "In Sample" and "Out Sample" you have nothing on your decibal Levels. Increase those and youll be fine.
