Will there be a separate page for the album? Like for track lists and preview?

Yeah, I'd like to put up my song, or a preview of my song, but I don't officially know if I've made the first volume or not. When it goes up, could we get the track list?

I actually don't think it matters what quality you upload beyond 96kbps. Youtube lowers the bitrate to 96 I think anyways, unless I'm mistaken.

Hey uh you guys should really release a tracklist soon or at least an artist list because I'm sure everypony who submitted would love to know if they are on it or not. An important part of putting together a compilation album is keeping all of the artists in the loop, if only with an update of "who is probably going to be on it" at least.

Also, yeah, uh, a few days now after Christmas? Sticking to deadlines is a very good thing, y'know. I know you guys are probably trying your hardest, but really, a release on a major holiday that means a lot feels a little less special if it's just around the time and not right on the big day. I know it's too late for this one, but...for the future I mean. Plan earlier, etc. I think having the track deadline a few days before the release date is a big mistake. You should definitely make that at least a week before, if not more, so that you can finalize the tracklist and master and package the album nicely so that it's a very professional production.

Sorry, we had a few unforeseen circumstances, but this will definitely be up tomorrow. Also sorry I didn't get the time to get back in touch with the artists, I'll get that done as soon as I can.

In the mean time, I thought we agreed that the album should be exclusive and the songs shouldn't go on Youtube ? That's how we marketed it on BfG and EqD, and it doesn't seem right to to sell for $10 something that's free online... What do you think ?

It's a good way of advertising the album to put the tracks on youtube and stuff, but just put a fadein and fadeout on the ends of the track so that it's a "preview" and the "full version" is on the album. Regardless, just don't put a download link to the song, and instead show the viewers or listeners or whatever where to get the full version on the album.

Short previews on YouTube are okay. Post the whole song, no no. Why? You can actually extract the sound from the video with a converter, resulting to free downloading.

The reason (I think) why we need previews and tracklist is just a matter for promotion/teaser for public.

We have now reached $3500 from pre-orders, with the album being advertised as exclusive, so it's too late to back down and start publishing full songs. However, feel free to post previews if you want to !

@Makkon : everything is turning out great, we got PsychedelicBrony's instrumental, EHT will upload everything tomorrow.

Dawww, okay, I'll keep it private. Any objections to releasing it 3 months from now?
Thanks for letting me know! I'm glad that everything turned out okay. I was worried all weekend, guess I didn't need to be.

Oh... well I do all my own mixing, and I do it so that no mastering is required on the other end, but yeah, I'd be up for having someone master my stuff if they think it needs it.

$4800 right now, I can't believe it. Looking at the donation history, the vast majority of them are actually over 25$, with not that many $10 donations, and a few crazy ones aiming for the prizes.
Seeing how this is turning out so well ($4800, can't believe it...), I think we could push back the second volume a bit, and use this first success to find the means do the next album in a more professional way, with stronger partnerships. What do you think ?

Honestly, people that wanna pirate it, are gonna pirate it, and it wont matter that they can extract a lesser than 128kbps copy from youtube. Following a lot of indie music scenes and stuff on bandcamp, i know people like to hear things first before they pull out that credit card. Also, a whole bunch of people will be happily donating out of the goodness of their hearts with or without the album. :3
