kick needs more power and punch.
this is a thing lot's of people don't seem to understand. when it comes to bass music, the kick and snare need to power over everything. the easiest way to do this is to compress the living fuck out of the kick, and sidechain EVERYTHING

I'd rather not overpower the rest of the drop with the kick, especially in a song like this where the drums are a bit more complex and not just THUD THUD THUD THUD. The rest of everything ever needs a say in the matter too. I'd rather let everything complement eachother rather than let one aspect have dominance over everything. It's just how I make shit.
And I REALLY hate the term "bass music". Like..why.

I think I have to agree with Bradley, the kick should relatively be the most dominant sound in the song. Your reasoning is valid, but when everything does come together the kick becomes non-existent, or at least hard to hear. Another thing is that that "Ding" or "thunk" noise in the beginning and end sounds like you over compressed the mid band of it, or brought it up too much, or maybe my earphones suck, take your pick.

As for the song, I'd say it's pretty catchy, I fairly enjoyed listening to it, aside from the overall mixing I'd say you did pretty good.

Sound design is nice and catchy, composition is good, but as the others said, the kick isn't dominant enough. However, I'm not suggesting side chaining the crap out of everything. The kick lacks in punch, not power. Try boosting the mid-highs a bit and perhaps use a transient shaper with some Sausage Fattener afterwards.

Because it's easier to define someone as a bass music producer than "dubstep, house, drum and bass, drumstep, and moombahton producer"
