Okay, before you say anything about this track not being anything like Rarity, know that it is an INSPIRED track. While looking at pictures of rarity, that melody started popping up in my head and I thought I could make a track based on this. I also somehow always connected Rarity with progressive house music, so this is something similar to that. :P

Also, even I am not sure which music this is... Electro? House? Trance? Techno? I don't know, so I just called it "Electronic".

Hope you enjoy!

Special thanks to Orschmann (http://orschmann.deviantart.com/) for the Rarity vector! :)

Ooh boy. Eight minutes of song for critique! Hope you like wall of text!

At 0:29, the sweep that lead up to it was nice, though I'd prefer a harder drop. Since you're leading up to another drop at 0:59, with the drum leading in, maybe something bass-y for the drop. You know. Just to make it shake the listener a little. I don't know what synth you're using after 0:59. The string sounding one. You might wanna lower its attack. The bass rhythm change you did at 1:58 could be more emphasized. Perhaps add in a synth that emphasize the syncopation. Once you lose the drums from 2:30, it's suggesting a different rhythm. Perhaps you should make the volume of the synth 2:58 modulate, to what you did at 3:27. Maybe you were going for that "let the listener (me) figure out the rhythm" thing. The 4:11 lead-up could be much faster. Right now I think you put 16th notes. I say go for 32 for more. In which case you might want to cut out the part from 4:11 to 4:37, so it goes right to drum+bass.

I wouldn't simply ungate the synth from 5:47 onward. Maybe have another synth that suggests something more mellow? The beat starting from 6:46 is essentially the "built-up" beat you have throughout the song. Consider using this beat more often and add a melody synth. I was expecting at least a cymbal for the ending. Actually, that's the composer's decision. Scratch that comment about the cymbal.

Overall, great piece of composition. The drum track is well made. Great gated synths. Loved though arps that occur after the lead synth. And right, the sweep. Loved the sweep. I think it would be better for the entire song if you had a working motif throughout. Not repeating the melody, but keeping that melody you have and subtly putting it in the background of the chorus. Or doing variations on the melody and build upon that by harmonizing. But really, the song is well made. Great job.
