Progressive Metal Discord Theme

Postby Dethonator » 18 Sep 2011 22:17

I would like some critique from the music community on how I should work with this, particularly those who aren't too familiar with metal. On the musical aspect, I feel that the intro clean parts are somewhat lazy on my parts, and the leads in the middle before the solo just felt out of place, perhaps my guitar's intonation was off.

I'm not really fond of the EQ, but I don't really know where to start. Maybe I am spending too much of my time comparing this song to professional made songs. What are your thoughts?

Now my rationale for the way this theme is made. My perception of discord is exactly as I expected: a whimsical diabolical creature of madness representing chaos, confusion and evil. His whimsical parts are where the clean jazzy parts are, while his evil side is the distorted parts. Not only that, but Progressive metal mixed with jazz just represents that sort of chaos.

And yes, the ending is "Floods" by Pantera.
