Agreed with Kyoga. You have some interested sounds, but I think they're a little dry and come off as grating and too metallic. I think that would be an OK think in short bursts, but not as good for a long pad. Still, reminds me of the flood levels in Halo 3.

Kyoga wrote:This particularly ambient composition seems to be really 'dry' when it comes to effects. The biggest problem regarding that the elements of your song aren't moving very much around within the stereo field, which makes it kind of difficult to 'get into it' as a soundscape.

What are you using for your synths, though? Some of these sound really clean.

any thoughts on how to fix this without just panning some oscs to the left and some to the right? or are there effects specifically for this?

all synths are my custom vst made for dark ambient

Kyoga wrote:Well good work with your synth. :3 the sounds are coming cleanly.

An effects chain is something that you develop overtime to accommodate your own style as a composer. Some people are into using Reverb and delay. Some people use phasers and distortion while some of the more advanced producers find themselves using resochords and chorus. Any mix of these effects should work, but those are the primary ones.

thanks and thanks!

also any tips for fixing the "metallic sound" senn described? i was thinking using less saws but i feel that would take away from the composition of the sound. would it be "ok" to try and fix it with an eq or would that also take away from the sound im trying to achieve?
