4 Bar MLR Multigenre Collab

Postby StormWolf » 07 Nov 2011 14:26

I don't know why I'm doing this, I don't even know who will do it but,
I thought of a funny idea. Each of us writes a really quick 4 bar phrase, in our preferred genre or something (obviously in the same key, hopefully with similar chord progs) all at the same tempo, and post it here, than I'll mash it all up into some random thingo. Yes? No?

We need a theme, so we can blend.

Storm Wolf: give us a theme in 20 hours flat, or I'll do it

We should do like a Winter Wrap Up remix with each of doing 4 bars like you said
Regardless of the theme I'd love to do this

I like this idea.

Or maybe someone just needs to create a midi and everypony would create their part with that midi (like in RW-IV mega-collab)

I'll try to participate if I wont get buried in college projects.

Please keep me updated for this thing. ^^

Incorrect.

D minor.

It is the saddest of all keys.

I said A minor because it's easier to use than any other key, requiring only white keys, and it's easier to make a serious-sounding song than with C major

This sounds pretty cool

I think the idea to use Winter Wrap-up as a theme works pretty well.

Hmmm
I think it'd be better to improv rather than do winter wrap up, but I dunno

As for the chord prog, I think we'll just make it in either A minor or D minor (depending on how many people want what) and I dunno, just make it a really simple overused i VI III VII????

Incorrect.

Use the key that you find comfortable.

If that's in place, then I'm in! Except that we have to make it 4 bars, same tempo, and (probably) 4/4ths, what else is there?

Hmm, this seems like a fun project, although I agree with Vinyl about the similar tempo and time signature.

As for keys, perhaps the last measure should fall back on the similar note, so somebody could switch to a common progression if they want to.

As long as people's works stick within a similar key and chord progression, with a common note (ex. A) between them, it shouldn't be much of an issue. Whoever decides to do the final mix can probably shuffle each contribution around so each part flows somewhat seamlessly into the next.

Ok as of now this hasn't really gotten anywhere...
Too many unknown variables T_T

I think for now, just scrap this project, but I'd still like to keep the idea, maybe for some other time when I'm more organized!

Edit: Unless someone else wants to organize this for me

Bartekko Kicks In

OKAY EVERYONE LISTEN UP

I want everyone who still wants to participate to post here a "I'm in" style post.

On 17.12.2011 (european counting) I will post a list of participants. I will also send the first 4 bars and all the midis and samples needed for making this one. I will be on IRC chat on 8PM GMT to make a list of who will send his part to the next pony, who will send his part to the next one, and that until we get to the end.

If Pony A sends his song to pony B, but pony B takes more than one day to make his part, pony A sends his part to pony C, and pony B is thrown out of the line and makes his part after pony X (the last one).

OR we all make our parts basing on the midi I make.

Decide
If I missed anything, feel free to PM me and I'll edit this post, or post here, but that will automatically add you to the list.

If there won't be too much participants, everyone will make 8 bars to make more room for self-development

SOUNDZ GOOD

But instead of passing it on, I was thinking more of intermission style, and just doing all seperately and getting someone to mix it all together in the end

This way, yay moar timez to work on

so basically we make a 4 bar beat and others will make other 4 bar beats and then we mash em all together? sounds like FUN! but yeah we should have just a specific date to turn em in. gives us moar time :D

Take my advice with a grain of salt as i too am learning how this music stuff works

This is (hopefully) going to be EPIC
I think I will still do some co-organisation with bartekko actually... Bartekko, you're making the midi and deciding on the tempo/key right?
I think I might step in and say we should change this to 8 bars, just for the sake of developing one's chosen genre more :D Decision is ultimately up to you though, bartekko

Also, anyone who's joining in on this please try to post what genre(s) you want to do for it, just so if anyone joins and sees that one genre is being overdone, they can pick a different one.
Of course this doesn't mean that two people aren;t allowed to do the same genre :3

Oh yea and one more thing,

IM IN :D (Eurobeat) hehehe
