GROUP ALBUM! - Now in Technicolor

Postby WhooferSpark » 26 Sep 2012 20:16

H-h-hey kids! Remember the 50's? How 'bout the 60's? No? 70's,80's and 90's? Yeah, that's what I figured. Well as we all know, I like ponies, you like ponies, we all like ponies....so lets show it. I present to you a new upcoming album "Now in Technicolor". A collaborative album in which anyone can enter their music. It can be any genre you like as long as it follows the theme of 'Retro-Futurism', I'll very lenient on this as it's often easily confused with the steampunk and dieslepunk influence. At the moment, there is no set release date, however ETA is probably going to be sometime in December so feel free to take you're time!

The plan for Now in Technicolor is to be similar to Balloon Party in the way that Balloon Party has released multiple albums such as Balloon Party: The After Party and Apple 2012, however it's unlikely that there will be a charge for any of them.

RULES

1. All submissions should be in .WAV format and sent to my email, [email protected]
2. Multiple entries are encouraged, however if you submit more than two, the two best will be chosen.
3. There will be little or no quality control until there are at least 15 certain participants.
4. I ask that you please pre-tag your files with the following:
-Artist
-Song title
-Album name

Retro Futurism...

Can I make cheesy sounding dubstep using lo-fi vocal samples from before the 60s? And bitcrushing? That way everything before the drop sounds retro, but the drop sounds like a combination of an old arcade game and Downlink. It'll be like a combination of the late 50s or earlier with the vocal samples, late 80s sci-fi, and Downlink and Excision inspired dubstep. With some traces of Receptor's awesomesauce.

Hey, did you know that dubstep didn't exist before the 2000s? Wow, crazy right?

PINKIE PIE IS IN FUCKIN' SPACE. I'm entering this album because Pinkie Pie is in space. I'm going to find a theramin and a set of bongo drums and get shit done.

Nope. It existed in 1999.

It just sounds completely different. But it was still dubstep.

Lol. 1999. Close enough. I sorta proved my point.

Well, 2-step garage existed around that time, which was the precursor to dubstep. I was referring more to the brostep that people consider dubstep nowadays.

Also, if you think Mr. Oizo is dubstep you are fucking daft.

That song sounds pretty damn close to dubstep to me. :P

Anyway, I might just give this one a shot if I have the time.
