All I can do is get taught by DJ Innovate, who doesn't produce (in fact he asked me to help him with that).

Sounds promising yo!
You seem to have a pretty good idea of what you're doing and that's nice. The whole thing just sounds a bit unfinished to me. The sounds seem like they're in an early stage, they sound fairly simple. The lead and screech specifically.
For the lead, you could try layering a different one to go along with it to achieve a fuller sound. As for the screech, maybe add some slight distortion and play with the pitch bend a bit more. The kick sounds solid, just lacks of punch a bit. Also diggin' the melody you've got going on!
All it needs is a bit more work and you'll have an awesome track!

Mmh... In my opinion that kick sounds closer to a jump kick rather than a hardstyle kick actually.

Trixiee wrote:How does my track sound?

Sounds good! I like the fx kicks, though, the kick itself, seems a bit... dull to me ? I think it may lack some frequencies (mid?), or maybe just need to be fattened a bit more, but overall it sounds fine, there's a good subbass.

Melody and the rest is nice to me, i just think that it gets a bit repetitive.

Keep up the good work!

___

By the way, i'm working on two new kicks, i'll show one today, aswell as a project that i'm planning on finishing for this summer. I'm experimenting, and this is nowhere near done. I do realize there's a couple of errors, that i'll fix, of course. But atm i'm trying to finish and release two~three tracks for what would be my first ep, with one or two tracks being hardstyle. Soon.

https://soundcloud.com/diceofficial/dice-early-wip-for-a-summer-1

Don't know if it's just me, but soundcloud seems to kill the quality.

I seriously need to learn how to pitch kicks with an audio editor, even though i got experienced with pitching through piano roll, it still feels like there's something missing.

how am i doing guys?

Oldschool kick I see.
The bass is a bit too loud in the intro, the melody is cool, and maybe you'd want to pitch that kick a bit?
Clean up your master too. Your synth needs some work, it's a bit weak. The kick kinda overpowers everything.

thanks for the advice!

any tips on how to strengthen a lead? i tried small amounts of distortion but that only helped slightly

also this is a remix of the song popcorn in case you couldn't tell

i think theres a lot of noise going on actually and the bass pitches so the tok of the kick doesnt end up sounding weird i think i might have to redo the kick bass so its more understandable

You don't do Hardcore by any chance? :P
Meh I could try and do something Hardstyle-ish a la Kent Winston's track "Do You Feel The Life?"
I'm not used to Hardstyle though. Just Hardcore.
I'll try. I like Hardstyle (though I love Lento Violento, Dubstyle and especially Oldschool Hardstyle a lot more), and even though Ponytraxx sounds like a hella obvious name, I like the idea a lot. So why not try :P

Still wanna know if I could by any chance do Hardcore xD I don't have my hopes high though. I tried xD

I think you should actually just keep it that minimalistic and use that part as the intro

@Facade :

> Your whole track could use some eqing, especially in the highs, you can put more reverb on the screeches, synth and yoi-like basses aswell

As for the lead, it sounds kinda filtered, like it lacks (or have too much) some frequencies such as treble frequencies, i wouldn't recommend distortion unless you really know what you're doing with it, you can try putting more detune aswell, or use some saw waveforms. Layering your synths can make them sounds much better and fatten them.

@Diss Order :

> For your tba, i like the reverse bass a lot, aswell as the other sounds, nice so far!

The Cave Johnson one reminds me of Wavolizer - Done, heh. Concept isn't bad but i think it could like... use some more sounds? maybe a reversebass, tho i get it's an early preview.

@Challa, or actually everyone :

> I'm working on improving my punches with hardstyle kicks, i'm working on a new track which shows my progresses regarding that, feedback would be much appreciated.

https://soundcloud.com/diceofficial/dice-summer-wip

(It's a very early wip, don't pay much attention to the intro, it was rushed, it's not even good, and will most likely be changed, because i dislike it.)

And yes, i still pitch my kick with the piano roll, yes, i know it's bad, i still manage to make some good pitching out of it.

@dice

AWWWW yes

love the kick

synth could use a little more delay or reverb though and maybe a layer or two more (unless you weren't going for the super super saw sound which is ok by me)

@tas

love the kick! great job!

Thanks! But nah, i wasn't going for a super saw, more of a summer-ish hardstyle synth, there's already synths layered together, and trust me, there's ton of reverb, adding more wouldn't change anything

Does the intro sound better? I think it does :

Hardcore as in Angerfist Hardcore/Gabber, or as in Happy Hardcore like Gammer or Darren Styles?
Either I would love to expand to. Future World vibe or a MOH vibe. XD
Masters of Ponycore. sounds good.

Edit: just listened to the track you said up top, and it seems more in on the gabber side, and also, the kick is realllllly weak. I was thinking about something like this:

But still softer gabber would be acceptable. Anything that falls into hardcore. I'll even accept Terror or speedcore, if it's not too oppressive.
