quoting for truth:
RobochiVulture wrote:Should be 1 entry/person, the trolling has gotten to the point where i no longer enjoy synchlistening to these, it's also scared one of my friends away from wanting to participate.

(emphasis mine)
though I'm going to keep it at 2 entries/person while I'm running the dual-themed ZIQ, so you can make 1 entry for both themes if you'd like.

and now a bunch of small quotes:
Interrobang Pie wrote:Without troll entries, Toastbeard would be a little on the boring side, frankly.

yes, that's why I'm not going to flat-out disallow / delete any troll entries, however:
Interrobang Pie wrote:The amount of troll entries is always outnumbered, anyway.

generally, yes. but the ratio of troll:non-troll has become a little low recently. 1:10 is ok, but 4:10 is a bit much (though for the record, these numbers are not pulled from any compo)

Interrobang Pie wrote:And regarding the entry limit, I actually have more of a problem if there are too little entries rather than too many. I don't mind staying up.

even if staying up isn't the problem, remember that you're staying up and listening to a [long] burst of new music.
ERS04 and ERS05 were both nearly 3 hours.
It's fatiguing.

Short and sweet is better.

PinkieGuy wrote:I should point out as well, limiting the number of entries won't necessarily improve quality.

very true. but that still cuts the number of hypothetical troll entries to 2/3rds what we have now.

again: Short and sweet is better. (where "short" is closer to "1.5 hours" than "3 hours")

and also just to answer a question:
BlackElectric wrote:What's a WAT?

WAT is short for Whatevercompo, which is basically "the rules are made up on a page-to-page basis".

collaboration = magic.
there was an astounding amount of ACE this round, I say.

here's what you missed:
sounds: http://toastbeard.comli.com/pony/a/ZIQ16/

and next week's round is set: http://toastbeard.comli.com/pony/a/ZIQ17/
</obligatory vaguely-christmas theme>

I'd like to point out that you can interpret this theme as "really sad music". go ahead, pull my heartstrings.
(really, I'm hoping someone writes a song based on this picture/story/thing)

I'm sad that I joined the sync late and missed out on people listening to the collab Riff and I did. I looked back at the text though and it seems some people got a kick out of the Herpy Derpy thing.

When posting incomplete songs that would have had lyrics (as Tarby has done a few times and ismbof did this week), if you know what/how you were going to sing and just didn't have time to record vocals, it would be nice to see the notes added in on top, even if in a terrible flat midi sample with no effects. Otherwise the actual "song" is just missing and, if the song never gets finished as has happened before, no one ever gets to hear what you thought of.

Or this could be impossible, I don't know about production.

The Problem is: making a midi of the whole vocal part has a good chance of being MORE troublesome and time-consuming than straight up singing

If that's the case then I'll just ask: don't abandon your WIPs if they're cool.

a two hour delay, but a short and sweet sync. it's all good.

sounds: http://toastbeard.comli.com/pony/a/WAT08/index.php
words: http://pastebin.com/SzPBPS2F

next WAT is going to be on like Tuesday, maybe Wednesday.
current plans: 2 hour speed-remix compo at either starting at 4pm EST or 8pm EST.
(so, a two hour composing period + easily one hour sync, starting at either 9pm or 1am brit-time)

thoughts / objections / stuff?
