The "Looking for a vocalist?" List

From scales and semitones to pentatonics and cadence patterns. It's all about the science behind the expression, here.

The "Looking for a vocalist?" List

Postby Camsy » 19 Aug 2012 07:12

After constantly seeing people asking for vocalists in the 'Sharing is Magic' forum, I decided it would be a good idea to compile a list of singers so that if someone needs vocals for their track, it would be easy to get a hold of someone with the right style of voice.

Everyone on this list should be more than willing to help you with any vocalist needs, just contact them via their preferred method. For more info on a particular singer, find their fully detailed post in the comments. If you want to be added to the list, please see the bottom of this post for full details.

Considering the demand for vocalists, this is a great idea. I may post a "vocalist profile" later (I don't have sample of my singing voice).

Postby Kushy Kallous » 19 Aug 2012 08:50

Hello everyone, I'm Kushy Kallous!

<Vocal Range> No tonal range(er, I cant tell where it is, mostly on the count of me not singing properly throughout my life, and following along under my breath.. I don't even know what I sound like anymore!) :( I'll give this practice at one point, but I rap!

<Ability level> In singing, I'd say I'm a 4/10, maybe even 3/10 - in rapping, I think I'm getting to be 6-7/10

<Genres/Speciality> I rap, if I hadn't mentioned that already. I also would like to try to branch out into acoustic songs, (It started with your smile, Anybody else but you, etc) - I'm still trying to find out if I can sing or not. :)

<Audio Quality>I have a pretty okay setup, nothing decent, nothing fancy. MXL 990-Condenser Microphone / 16Bit Fostex Recorder(ol school) / Audacity(hoping to grab audition here pretty soon)

<Vocal Sample> You could find links to things I've done in my sig. :) There is a soundcloud embed right there. - I would link my old YouTube, where I have videos of me singing along to rockband, but who wants to see that crap!

<Easiest way to contact you> Best way to get a hold of me is actually Email. As I have my phone on me all the time, and the email sound is something that will actually wake me up. o__O Though, just contact me here on MLR, I basically browse here constantly. I do have other modes of communique though, and if you wanted a more accesible and private form of communication, let me know.

<Anything else> I might add more here later, I am down to do most of anything not involving yelling or screaming. My raps are more real the others, and I touch upon subjects that I get fed up with. This isn't to say that I won't rap about something that I'm not fed up with, but you might get a better response if I can relate to the song. ;) I write my own lyrics.
To judge ones intellect seems ignorant in reality.

Hello, I am Scott Giffen, more known in these parts as NightmareSnake!

<Vocal Range> I have absolutely no idea. I can sing Deep Purple songs well if that helps.

<Ability level> Well, other people think I'm better than I think I am. As for my own judgment, well, I'm not the best ever but I definitely don't suck.

<Genres/Speciality> Really I could probably do whatever you wanted but my preference lies in rock, metal, or other really heavy aggressive music.

<Audio Quality> Audacity and a PlayStation 2 microphone that says Disney on it. LAWL.
The quality isn't bad, though.

<Vocal Sample> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utK4QyvOe2U - All vocals

<Easiest way to contact you> Skype/Youtube/Twitter = NightmareSnake
AIM/YIM = ssg703
MSN = [email protected]
Email = [email protected]
Or just PM me here.

<Anything else> I can also do rapping if I am asked to, and I don't have any record of this yet, but I can also do screams. I am also a lyric writer, although I am fully ok with singing lyrics written by someone else.
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=4025 <---- PAY ATTENTION TO THIS!

Vocalist. Will collab with anyone. Does singing, screams, and raps. Also dabbles in FL Studio. Writes lyrics. Self-advertising whore.

<Vocal Range> Bass/Baritone. Mostly bass.

<Ability level> I'm a very capable singer, pianist, guitarist, and bassist. If it has strings, odds are I can play it. I learn quickly and come up with ideas swiftly, as well. I am excellent at writing lyrics and structuring them with a melody, giving them meaning and weight, or just being clever. I'm not a shreddy virtuoso on guitar, but I can hold my own and come up with original, catchy melodies. Finally, I specialize in writing stories and characters, so chances to do that in music are most welcome.

<Genres/Speciality> Dark, creepy, grim, tongue and cheek, evil, tragic, emotional, etc. I do these things best, and I tend to be partial towards metal, gothic rock, classical piano composition, doom, and blues.

<Audio Quality> I go to two different studios for recording, and I don't know the specifics of their setups. Mine is pretty bare bones, and I usually just use it for skeleton tracks. Presonus, Soundforge, Sony Vegas, etc. - nothing special. My engineers have top quality equipment, which is why I use them most of the time.

<Vocal Sample> All male vocals in Pandora's Toybox and Blacksoul Seraphim are done to me, and you can find plenty of those projects and other tunes of mine on Soundcloud. My voice is also on We Three Priests of Azathoth (3 of me) and Linkara's Theme.

Postby Camsy » 22 Aug 2012 05:10

Edit, I just realised after cleaning up the list that I forgot my own full list of stuff. >.<

Camsy, Male

I have a fairly large vocal range, though I'm most comfortable in Tenor to Alto. I'm definitely not the best vocalist around, though I'm fairly good. I've been told by some people that my vocals sound a lot better live than recorded, might have to do with mic choice, I'll keep searching for a good one. :P

My genre is soft vocals, I can't rap, do screamo or any heavy rock style vocals.

My home setup is a SM58 - yamaha audiogram 3 - my computer on ProTools. I do also have access to a recording studio with top of the range gear, if your track needs ridiculously high fidelity vocals just let me know.

See the post in the vocal list for a demo of my vocals.

Contact: [email protected] - Youtube: Camsy34 - MLR Forums.

My Skype is also Camsy34 but I really don't use it more than once every few weeks, if that's the only form of communication you have, feel free to contact me via it but don't expect any fast responses. Best bet is email as I check it hourly every day.d

Postby Terolie » 23 Aug 2012 04:32

WARNING: I got a heavy ass school year this year so if I answer a request slow that's probably why!

<Username & Gender> Terolie. I'm a man

<Vocal Range> Now my vocal range is pretty widespread but I struggle mostly with soprano(sometimes) and Bass(mostly)

<Ability level> I'm 100% self learned and got about 2 and a half year of full time singing experience and then on and off for about 4 years. I would say I'm about a 6 outta 10 (trying to stay honest but not give you guys the wrong impression)

<Genres/Speciality> Can't do Opera. No idea how to do that. Other than that. I do mostly ANYTHING. You would probably prefer me in either Rock/Pop or Metal or ballad. Though I really want to be in a techno song one of these days^^

<Audio Quality> I've got a Steinberg CI 1 with a Shure SM58 hooked into it. Using Sequel LE 2 and Audacity mostly. (And yes I do have a pop filter.)

<Vocal Sample> My soundcloud(where I post unfinished stuff before it get's posted on Youtube http://soundcloud.com/terolie
And my Youtube where I post my finished products of varying quality (Only got one song up as of now, crazy busy past few weeks and even more so later on)
http://www.youtube.com/user/TerolieBrony

<Easiest way to contact you> As I am not the most frequent visitor and mostly just come here to listen to you guy's fantastic works you would probably have an easier time in contacting me on either Skype : SonBardock or my e-mail [email protected]

<Anything else> Even though I said I would be crazy busy Please don't hesitate to contact me, I love music more than my life (so to speak) so I will do what I can to make sure I can work with it as much as possible.

<Username & Gender> StevenAD, Male

<Vocal Range> UH. I am not sure. I think tenor? Low tenor? Is that a thing? Listening to a song or two of mine would probably give you a better idea.

<Ability level> I can sing pretty well, but I'm a better rapper, methinks. Ha, methinks.

<Genres/Speciality> Pop and rap. My voice really suits a lighter style of music.

<Audio Quality> I have a Blue Snowball mic that is better than your average rockband microphone, and I record in Audacity. I know to use wavs rather than mp3, etc, and if there's something special you want me to do, I'm flexible enough to learn how. I've written and recorded a fair amount so don't worry about getting an unusable recording (unless you ask me to do something that's outside my range. Then expect it. Expect it hard.)

<Vocal Sample> Poppier Rap and Rappier Pop and a better demonstration of my singing voice.

<Easiest way to contact you> Hit me up on skype (aloysisk), message me on here, or send me a message on youtube.

<Anything else> I can also write lyrics, but it will obviously take me much longer to get it to you like that. When I write lyrics I write lyrics. Also, if you ask me to do something and bail, I will hunt you down and eat your spleen.

<Vocal Range> Tenor/Baritone

<Ability level> I am a confidant vocalist, with a fairly high male vocal range, as well as some baritone/bass range. I can also harmonize fairly well.

Hmm...I may have a female vocalist who is a MLP:FiM fan that I can send into these forums! She's got one of the most incredible voices I've ever heard, and yet I've only recently started working with her. Wonderful friend, she is.

Also, I've gotten a couple of commissions, thanks to this thread! Thank you, C∆m§¥, for doing that OP thing. :D

Yeah, sure.

Senntenial - Male

<Vocal Range> I'd think Tenor to Alto?

<Ability level> I hate rating myself but I'd say 7/10? I can sing pretty perfectly on pitch, have a good voice, and do good transitions. I lack some vocal control.

<Genres/Speciality> I don't really know. In my stuff I sang French House, Dubstep, the likes.

<Audio Quality> I can't name the exact recorder... Funnily enough it's actually a Sony Field recorder but it works very well, even if it wasn't made for vocals.

<Vocal Range> Soprano

<Ability level> Decent; some autotune may be useful for more difficult songs. Not gonna lie XD But I can do character singing as any of the mane6 and many background ponies.

<Genres/Speciality> I especially love to do stuff like dubstep, trance, vocal glitch, etc. I can do spoken word things too like DJ drops.

<Audio Quality> AT2020 USB condenser, audacity, adobe audition. Sound test of it is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFW0OjS-5bY (it's spoken, not singing, but you get the idea)
