They costed me only 70 bucks and they have better sound quality than my $200 beats headphones in regards to being able to play subs. I found them at a best buy a few months back. It's a 3 part speaker system with a large sub and two smaller speakers than connect to form the left and right speakers.

I also got an iPhone 4 which is 1 year newer than the iPhone I usually use to get into mlr. :3 it is noticeably faster than y other iPhone although it only has 8gb compared to the 32 on my other phone. I still like it because its better than what I've been using for the last year

Did you just use beats as a good comparison?

In all seriousness though... You really need to try the speakers yourself to see if they suit your needs. For example I use Bose AM-5's and they are good enough for me (at the moment) It also depends on space, which is the main reach I use the AM-5 because the tweeter and mid-range housing is small so fits well on my desk. I'd recommend taking a look at KRK. or if you want something cheaper you can get a pair of Avantone Mixcubes for a respectable price.

Again, sorry for the random interjection.

As Abby said, you have to choose the right monitors for you - however lame and cliché it might sound. Unfortunately, cheap monitors don't exist unless you stumble upon a crazy second-hand deal. I swear by KRK Rokit 5 G3's, which you can pick up on Amazon for just over £250; which isn't too bad a price in the grand scheme of things.

eery wrote:I wouldnt get the rokits. From what I've heard of them, they don't even feel like they have a flat response, too much focus on the bass. They sound clear and all, but idk, dont like them. Probably an example of the aforementioned right monitors for you.

Myself I go with a couple of Yamaha HS5's mounted on top of gingerbread boxes.(That isn't slang or anything)
I feel they've improved my mixing a lot compared to when I was using headphones only. If I remember right, they're about the price of the KRK's. And they're white instead of yellow or black, so they look sorta nice.(Totally not my endreason to pick them or anything.)

I like the HS5's more than the KRK's as well. I mentioned them because here the KRK's are slightly cheaper. And I actually have to agree about the bass response, they seem to be aimed as a bass heavy producer monitor, whereas the HS5's seem more aimed as an all rounder. I know I use HS5's in the recording studio, and a mastering engineer I know uses them alongside the HS8's in his studio. So yea go with the HS5's if they're not out of your price range. If you really need some cheap monitors M-Audio make some good enough monitors.

Yo guys, I really need some new music. Anyone know of any good artists along the lines of Work Drugs, The Naked and Famous, Portugal. The Man, Passion Pit, Two Door Cinema Club, On An On, Grouplove, The Black Keys, etc? Like, indie pop/rock, synthpop, dream pop, stuff like that. Non-pony, please and thank you.

Imagine Dragons' album has some good synthpop tracks on it. I also really like Lousy Robot. I'd suggest checking out synth-rock and dream-pop on Bandcamp; you'll god pretty good results.

Yeah, stuff along those lines, though more pop-ish and synthy. I already have a bunch of Arctic Monkeys and I'm not a fan of Imagine Dragons though. I'll check out those bandcamp tags, thanks

Granter, all DAWs are secretly identical and all of our DAW-based feuds are secretly the agenda of the illuminati.
Notebook Memories, the debut album from yours truly, is currently up on my bandcamp for free. Any feedback, encouragement, hate mail, etc. is highly appreciated! Even just listening is pretty cool of you tbh.

You guys sure that isn't FL? I can see what looks like the browser bar and step sequencer open, and it really does look like he's using SynthMaker. And of course there's the mixer that looks similar to FLs and the familiar DAW background... That picture was taken in 2002, so if that's what cubase looked like in 2002, then I guess I'm wrong.

Sennheiser are usually pretty good for mixing and audio quality. Pyrelight recommended a certain type of Sennheiser but I forget what they're called. They were like HD 2something Pros... or something like that. It may have been the HD 280 Pro. They cost something like $100 (Au/Us I have no idea).

I used to have HD 201's. They were pretty good, I think. Only reason I don't have them anymore is because my brother stepped on them and broke them. They were kinda cheap, too. Something like $40 Au.
