Official Discussion Thread (Ghost Edit)

Sports, politics, movies, videogames, questionable hobbies, photos from your family vacation, etc. Talk about stuff that isn't ponies or music. But do try to stay on topic and respectful of alternate opinions.

googling googlecore (heh) I found some examples, and I must say, googlecore might be stupider than nightcore. Impressive.

It did make me remember scis sweetass track that samples google translate tho. Not much for purism though, I guess.

Heh, nah, I don't know if I will. Only heard about it the other day from EQD. Will check it out more.

Just checked it out heh. $40 bucks for one day, 27th/28th this month. Hmmm. Dunno. I might, but works been super slow (pronounced non-existant) and I haven't had a shift for a while, so my cash flow is dwindling a bit.

I have no idea what your talking about! I'm actually going to a school now where I am genuinely interested in all the subjects! And they have a shitload of student organisations and clubs doing everything from sailing to electronics to pyrotechnics! And they have awesome parties! And patches!!! TODAY WE EVEN HAD LUNCH WITH PUNCH! I fucking love it!!!

Only problem so far is the amount of sleep and hangovers... The parties are gonna die down in a few weeks though, to make time for studies. For now though... priorities. Lunch with punch > Perfectly sober in a workshop

I felt intense pain and threw up at school. So I went home early.
This has happened several times to me now.
My mom thinks it's my diet. Reluctantly, she sends me to a doctor. (She thinks it's just a bad diet that causes me to throw up.)
Doctors inspects me.
Says I have a hernia.
The kind I'm born with.
Is affected by heavy lifting and weak muscles.
Not preventable.
Only option to fix is surgery.
(No big deal to me becausey parents and insurance will pay.)
Tell my mom about it.
Tells her that it's not preventable and is something I'm born with. Is affected by heavy lifting.
Still thinks it's my diet.
(Another reason why I think she is retarded)

Diet could be making it worse... but I'd assume the doctors would say so i that case...
I got stomach ulcers from stres and not sleeping before. I would throw up in the mornings if I had anything to eat, and when it got bad I couldn't eat all day, or I'd vomit it straight back up. I survived on soup and crumbs, and it wasn't fun at all...
Anyway.. I don't think that relates much to the topic... other than I almost vomited in school a few times back then...
Trust the doctors, most of them know what they're doing

So this afternoon I came home from uni to find that a leopard seal had come ashore to rest on the beach. Went down with my dad and sister to have a look and take photos and all that. It was only a small one, bout half the size of what they usually get to, and it had a small bite mark on its side that from what my dad and some of the Animal Protection whateverer people recognized as a bite from a cookiecutter shark. We watched it for a about 10, 15 minutes, until it decided that it had rested enough, turned around, and went back into the ocean (The swell was massive by the way, still is and has been for a few weeks now, so there would have been no one in the water and any one who'd think they would go for a swim would have had a death wish of some sorts).

It was a really awesome sight. The last time a leopard seal decided to come ashore at the beach where I live was in 1997 or some time around that. That one was much bigger, and lay around for 3 days.

Will upload some photos later, maybe after I wake up :3

So alycs returns.
Let me explain the new rules that we established on this thread since you probably don't know about them.
1. No longer able to post anything that doesn't have anything to do with something that was posted with 7 posts prior to your post. This was to make sure that everything stays relevant.
2. No doctor who stuff because everyone was spamming about the new season.
3. No posting images because blah blah blah something to do with taking up too much space. So it's Ll just been banned.
4. No posting links without permission from the OP (me) unless it's a link to a website for donating money to an origination of some sort. Doesn't matter which one.
5. No more hyper linking a YouTube video as the start of a new discussion idea. And no videos posted shall be longer than 5 minutes long.

I could have sworn there were more but I forgot them.
Someone help me out on remembering the other rules we came up with a little while back.
You know, the rules that Alycs has no idea exist because he has been AFK. (Hint hint make some rules up in the spot to trick alycs.)

Okay for a moment I really fell in a mental hole there, reading those rules.
Ugh.

So I've come to the theory that new discussions are started with "so."

So I've just gotten back home from the movie Lucy. In a nutshell, it's about a woman who accidentally comes in touch with drugs that enable her to use the full capacity of her brain. It's a very, very cool movie, unlike anything I've yet seen. Definitely the most unique one I've seen. Also the soundtrack is HELLA amazing.
I very highly recommend watching it.

I can never stand to watch movies like that, with plots based primarily on misconception. I try for suspension of disbelief in everything I watch and read, I really do, but there's only so far I can go towards shutting off the factual and critical parts of my brain. No matter how good the cinematography and acting may be, I could never enjoy it because the entire time I'd be taken aback at how stupid and uneducated the main premise is. But I have respect for people who are able to enjoy a movie for what it got right, regardless of how badly it might have gotten something so... horribly wrong.

Also, those rules seem sort of overzealous and restrictive if taken literally... I hope by #1 you mean "no replying to old posts" and not "no bringing up new discussion topics." Also, I'd assume #4 means no unsolicited link-dropping, and doesn't apply to links that are relevant to the current discussion? And what's the purpose of #5?
Notebook Memories, the debut album from yours truly, is currently up on my bandcamp for free. Any feedback, encouragement, hate mail, etc. is highly appreciated! Even just listening is pretty cool of you tbh.

I don't remember any one coming up with those specific rules or posting them :/ And I feel like every single one of those rules has been broken in the last 3 pages. I thought the main rule of thumb was "Don't spam, try to be on topic"

Also yeah that Lucy movie to me looks kinda stupid. Haven't seen it so I could be totally wrong, but as soon as I heard people talking about this "cool new movie about a girl who unlocks 100% of her brain" I was just like yeah nah that's not how it works onwards to Guardians Of The Galaxy

Lemme be blunt, most of these are not even slightly contusive to free discussion.
1 is fine but it should only be a recommendation, not a strict rule
2 is stupid because people like Doctor Who and wanna talk about it sometimes, so deal with it
3 is also fine but should also just be a recommendation
4 is really bad because discussion shouldn't rely on whether or not you in particular are online or not
5 is just fucking dumb

I get that this is your thread but stop being all precious about what happens in it, it's a discussion thread, if anything you should be trying to facilitate that as best as you can, which these rules won't.
