Putting a feeler out there

Postby the4thImpulse » 19 Aug 2013 23:48

As most of you know I've wrote a few guides in my times on MLR and they seem to have helped many of you judging by the consistent amount of general help requests I get had in my inbox.

I have really felt the urge to write recently (not that I'm a professional writer) and figure writing another guide or two would be a good idea. Problem is I don't know what to write about so I was wondering if anybody wanted a more in depth guide/tutorial/advice into some topic I perhaps know about. It's had to say what all exactly I know so just fire away suggestions and Ill select the ones I know I can help with.

If you haven't read any of the guides I've written I have a few linked in my signature.

Compress the master channel.

Ok in seriousness. Something like what Vlad said.

I'd love an in depth guide to sound design.

Or a detailed explanation of / guide to FM synthesis?

I'd really like a guide on drum design as I have total of zero knowledge when it comes to drum rhythms.

In other words mastering in general? I can do that.

Lots of sound design requests, I'll see if I can get something together for that.

Drums are also a good one, it will be more geared towards EDM, specifically the Housier genres cause that's what I do and know.

I struggle somewhat in sequencing myself, what I have been doing recently is taking famous tracks and laying their own arrangements in ableton and then marking obvious transition points and arangement changes. I then make my own song fit around that sort of guide (I do usually make small changes).

Here's a guide I just wrote on EDM arrangement if anybody is interested. Thanks 4th for the tips that helped me figure it out.
