Nostalgic music thread go!

So what kind of music did you grow up with?

I broke off from the norm of the rest of the family and stuck to the stuff that I enjoyed. We had a classical station on the radio in my town, and I would listen to it compulsively. But what I always loved were the obvious classics, the ones that everyone's heard before.

But then

And then I discovered movie soundtracks...

My Parents would always play Richard Clayderman when I was going to sleep. I feel nostalgic listening to these again. :)

I actually grew up with a combination of rock, metal and drum n' bass...

THE OBVIOUS ONE!

Pretty lame metal now that I think about it...I listen to far greater stuff now! :P

The Prodigy were HUGE where I lived/grew up!

So yeah, that's quite a big difference to what I actually write now!!!

You are the hero My Little Remix deserves, not the one it needs.
So we’ll hunt you. Because you can take it. Because you’re not our hero.
You’re a silent guardian of music, a watchful protector of songs.

Get ready for a load of "what you heard and possibly consider shit", as I listen(ed) to loads of pop
I actually don't have any very and very specific songs that are very deep in my memory BUT.
when i think of it, I'm too young to have memories older than 2000 (and the first thing I remember was my PC)

been raving to midi it when this was 10 years old (and me 5). if you haven't heard of it... It's impossible not to hear this once in your life.

You've been warned. I just like pop, nothing else, and this is one i remember the best (when young, and didn't know teh lyrics, i thought they were "tam gos by, sun suly"

A.K.A when auto-tune was used artistically

what? prodigy is one of the best bands musicians ever

yes, I'm still in school years and so my childhood was like totally when nfs carbon was.

I know, I'm not a hipster at all, so everything here is well-known but shit, is it wrong? [lame joke]It will make me feel better when my music goes viral[/lame joke]
stats say this thread's posts keep gettin longer

Mine was the same
but plus looots of Mike Oldfield and hell damned lots of Klaus Schulze

A bit another topic, but this was THE TRACK that made me get into music

I find it very strange, but I was not much into eurodance which was so popular during my childhood, so all the bands that KOR named I discovered after 2000

Whatever I listened to back then was what my dad listened to. He liked a lot of metal, and old school rap.

And I used to be a huge WWE fan, so...

Buuuuuut, in 2008 I came across this:

Pretty sure this is the song that got me into the stuff I make now.

Am I the only one in this thread that grew up with thrash? :c

My dad used to put me to sleep with this every night. feltgoodpony.jpg

And I remember hearing this like every day before I went off to kindergarten.

METALLICA VIDEO
IRON MAIDEN VIDEO

Nope, I did too. In my early teens, at least. Also I'm concerned that I didn't spot this thread sooner.

My mum was (and still is) obsessed with Michael Jackson, so it rubbed off on me. This song is just beautiful. Nothing but childhood memories right here...

And I always used to play this when I visited my grandad... so that's more childhood music I grew up to...

Early and mid teens I was a huge Metallica fan, to the point where I became a little ignorant to everything else, I regret to say.

Personally, this was my favourite album of theirs. This track in particular. I have little taste left in me for metal, but this is just brilliant.

Also, System of a Down's first album was something that I listened to a lot from age 11 upwards. I absolutely love how experimental and raw the album is.

Anything later than this I wouldn't yet consider "growing up with". My tastes are too broad to narrow it down now anyway. In about five years I could say I grew up listening to an odd mix of pony music and The Mars Volta though...

Oh my god yeah I grew up with Jizz Jickribbit too. That game had an amazing soundtrack and in a way it really influenced my songwriting.
