With upcoming DVD releases of episodes in multiple countries, this isn't much of a surprise at all, and for Hasbro to not go after the full uploads on YT would end up costing them dearly, which, at the end of the stick, the reason why we enjoy FiM is because of the company.
The creators and animators for the show love the series, but it's also their job. A full time job that earns money so they can provide for their families and themselves. From that viewpoint, the only thing pirating episodes and/or continuously uploading them freely is doing, is basically a trickle effect that if left unanswered will impact the show's creators themselves.
Hasbro has been very lenient on letting their material be shared publicly. Having to deal with constant uploads reappearing, the whole incident with Pony Archive, and a lot of angry fans that send letters expressing their feelings of entitlement to material that doesn't belong to them, I'm surprised Hasbro hasn't turned into a WMG/Viacom type company.
They don't seem to be interested in going after PMVs, music, art, etc, like many companies do. Some companies, like WMG, even take down videos of people performing cover songs of copyrighted material. A lot of our songs contain samples from the show. For those that don't, even if it's a cover, or based off MLP, technically it's using Hasbro's intellectual property, and after that you've got the whole gray area of fair use law.
Let's continue to count our blessings, that despite Hasbro stepping up the enforcement of their own material, they have made no move, nor have implied anything along the lines of taking down anything other than full and/or partial episode streams.
We should consider ourselves lucky to have such a great company that has helped grow and support our fanbase, and with that in mind, they deserve an enormous amount of respect, not scorn, and as influences on the community itself, our own actions influence many, and I highly encourage everybody to be very mature and rational when it comes to addressing this subject now, and in the future.
