Official Discussion Thread (Ghost Edit)

Sports, politics, movies, videogames, questionable hobbies, photos from your family vacation, etc. Talk about stuff that isn't ponies or music. But do try to stay on topic and respectful of alternate opinions.

Math is weird. Who invented it anyway!

I have noticed that after I spend a long time on a single track, it takes longer for my creativity to come back. Hopefully, it comes back soon.

This. I spent 40 hours on Timeless. It's been a month and I still have nothing.

The first rule of making a song is to do it one shot with the writing and sound design...

Yeah I find it's a lot better to get everything roughly done in one 5 hour session and spend another 5 refining it. Of course a lot of my songs tend to go more like 2 hours of writing and 20+ hours of refinement but hey, I'm getting better with that.

Just tried out FL 12 alpha, and I don't really like it. Interface is strange. Also, the app crashed when I started playing a song, but it's alpha. For those who want to try, it's downloadable here.

oh?

When I said sound design I meant writing down how you want the instruments to sound. This way it minimises the problem of loosing creativity

Generally when developing software, you start on a new version as soon as the last one is out.
Notebook Memories, the debut album from yours truly, is currently up on my bandcamp for free. Any feedback, encouragement, hate mail, etc. is highly appreciated! Even just listening is pretty cool of you tbh.

i looked at the new fl 12 briefly. its different for sure. i am already so used to how it is that im not sure that I even want change. I don't know if I will make the switch or not. depends on how much I end up liking it after I start using it. It might end up being like windows 8 to me, i don't like it until i am used to it. idk

Damn, do I not like Tumblr.

I like the fact that lots of people on there are interested in the stuff I'm interested in, but the lulz are not worth the headache of SJBs and generally argumentative people. Tumblr is one of the most toxic internet environments I've experienced, and I've been on 4chan's /pol/ board.

Yeah, I know what you mean. People get offended really easily. And when they do get offended, they get really nasty.

I pity those who feel the necessity to attack people so much. It's sad and unnecessary. It's not wrong to have an opinion that others don't have. It's not important to be right 100% of the time. Nor is it necessary to verbally attack someone. By seeing the world and people in general to be arrogant, you become so yourself, by making everything you read more dramatic and replying to that drama your conviction made up.

EDIT - though, I also believe that giving attention to something makes it bigger, and although I doubt that not paying attention to e-drama will make e-drama stop, I believe it could still help.

On the other hand, it's entertaining to see how they would react to opinions that differ from theirs.

And on another hand, there happens to be this pun blog me and a friend run which doesn't have anything other then an awful pun once a day at noon.

On yet another hand, tumblr is a great place to complain about my self-promotion of my blog.

Seriously though, tumblr has an amazing amount of original content, and its fairly easy to avoid the keyboard warriors. Just unfollow blogs that don't post what you want to see.

It infuriates me that a lot of people think the way you do. To laugh about others' mistakes. With this you also contribute to the drama.

That was low, even for your standards, Simon.

Sorry Bagelsword :c
I just lose a little grip on reality when I'm really, really frustrated.
It usually doesn't go further than words, but it does lock the frustration and its unreal opinion in my mind...

Okay, I'm sorry I said that, I should've suggested to (attempt to) ease the drama rather than to sit aside and just laugh at it.

Tumblr is decent if you can restrict who you follow to original content creators and personal friends outside of the site. It's not really that difficult to restrict the bullshit posts you see to a few a day, and those you can pretty much always ignore.
Notebook Memories, the debut album from yours truly, is currently up on my bandcamp for free. Any feedback, encouragement, hate mail, etc. is highly appreciated! Even just listening is pretty cool of you tbh.
