Genres you'd LOVE to see some Brony music made in

We all love it, otherwise it's unlikely you'd be here. Talk about the show and the fanbase surrounding it. Brony music discussions encouraged.

Oh, and Archie. But I guess he doesn't really count, since he only used the fandom to get popular.

Archie is progressive house and not progressive rock. Let's not forget psychedelic brony for all his psyche and progness. Done a great job of adding that sound to the community.

This is why MLR drives me crazy sometimes. 3000 views for a prog track, and it's not enough? How much more proggy could that even be, all the time signatures are prime numbers and the whole ending has six million drum fills on roto-toms!

Also, folks were saying this was Pink Floydy, which considering that it's guitar soloing... you gotta show up to toastbeards, half of what I _do_ has guitar soloing in it- I just often hide it in effects because ponies seem to not like guitars

I wasn't meaning to offend anyone; what I meant is that there's not a lot of prog rock/prog metal compared to the amount of EDM (not that there's anything wrong with that). However, I'm still looking for a brony musician with a Dream Theater/Symphony X influenced style (like Tarby).

Kyoga...I challenge you.

And disco? Why, I did a disco piece as my second pony piece. Though, to be fair, I'd love some songs in that booty-shaking genre.

What I'd really like? More new-wave/dark-wave. We have EBM, synthpop and some stuff like that, but no stuff like Big Country, New Order, Tears for Fears, The Cure, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, or Xmal Deutschland (excluding the one song I did, which I must still re-record with revamped lyrics: http://youtu.be/nf0z8cR67qs )

Freewave, I know you're into this stuff, whut up?

Oh, and MRPPony, genre mixes like hard rock/orchestral? How's about this: http://youtu.be/z6oPG8JAYBU

Make your own. (realize this is only my opinion)

I try.

I'm going to be a hipster here, but harsh noise. I am a huge Merzbow fan, I have several days of Merzbow music on my iTunes.
I used to do a lot of noise and avant-garde type stuff. Maybe I'll make some ponoise.
I always enjoy doing something until I have to.
Good thing I'm supposed to be doing stuff other than music.

Oh my god, even though i'm awful at anything involving the defining of genres, this is a fascinating thread. Just reading it was juicing up my imagination for even more things I could do when I learn how to electronic music gud.

Although I could probably think of a bunch of things that there needs to be more of, the one thing that is in the forefront of my mind right now is that we need more of that Orchestral Swing stuff like Tsyolin did

I love this song so much, and it made me realize that I really love happy, swingy songs like that. Also electroswing is really cool too.
My goal is to be capable of making any kind of music that strikes my fancy, and do it well.

Rap's not exactly my forte...
I can sing fine, though.

Yes, because I rap all the time. /sarcasm

Naw, guitar. We should write something nice to solo to and then beat each-other to death with runs, arpeggios, and metal bending.

That type of competition where everybody wins...unless they don't like the guitar, then they never win, anyway.

OR:

We can have a royal rumble with Pickslide and ThatRobChap. Folding, metal chairs galore!

Come on, it takes almost no time to play guitar solos, weeeee!

Yes. I haven't seen anything truly heavy yet in the community. Dethonator was as close as we got, and he deleted all of his good songs and started being a bit of a douche.

I would try to do technical or progressive death metal (I'm a guitarist), but I can't find a drummer or a bassist. The only ones I've seen aren't into that kind of metal.

Well Screams From Equestria started as a pony death metal band but they have became avant-garde just mixed lots of diff types but this song from 2.14 goes full metal XD

I'm all for either. I've been practicing some power metal stuff (Nothing that crazy, but double picking is becoming my thing), but I can at least provide some rhythm and such. (I was never much of a shredder)

I love how Skrillex can derail a thread even when he's not trying.

But for music I think we need more melodic dubstep.
