Re: Composing without learning keyboard (?)

You could just add the MIDI in with your mouse, like I do...

There is audio to MIDI software out there, I have one called "Audioscore", but it freaks out if there's any noise...could try it at least!

You are the hero My Little Remix deserves, not the one it needs.
So we’ll hunt you. Because you can take it. Because you’re not our hero.
You’re a silent guardian of music, a watchful protector of songs.
A doctor of dissonance.

Like Dissonance said, try out "Audioscore". I've never used it myself, so i can't say if it is good or bad.
I recommend you to actually try to learn the Keyboard. Knowing how to play the piano/keyboard is a great asset when it comes to composing, atleast for me.

Try recording yourself singing the melodies in your head. Sing it slowly and with a metronome clicking in the background (or over a click track). That should help you figure out those melodies.

Also! If you have $250 or don't mind pirating software, get Melodyne. It's really easy-to-use but incredibly powerful autotune software.

And yeah, I highly recommend you learn the keyboard, even if just to a point where you can bang out chords and play some simple melodies. It helps so much.
